Survey Respondents Requested

I took the survey...:)

Very good idea to get feedback so you can get an idea of what direction to take the line in. The survey is designed in such a way that gives me (and others that take it) an introduction to the setting.

I figured it was important to really give people as much info as possible so they could make informed decisions. A lot of surveys are very generic and designed to illicit a specific response. The people designing most surveys really don't care HOW you answer, because the choices are worded in a way they can use for marketing.

"Heaven and the Abyss"==This refers to the fact that most of the gods of the setting are part demon, so there was a logic behind it. :)

Right. I get the logic; it's just an awkward phrase.

"Heaven and Hell" has a nice cadence to it and alliterates.

"Heaven and the Abyss" doesn't have either.

A valid point. And most folks just refer to it as Neiyar, anyway. We'll probably drop the subtitle from future supplements.

How about "paradise and the abyss"? The extra syllables in paradise make it flow better, I think.

I took the survey. Sounds like an interesting setting. This is neither a bug nor a feature, but it seems to me that as soon as you tell the players "teleportation is unreliable and sailing incredibly dangerous" the campaign is going to be all about getting off the island. Damn contrary players. :)

Good point. It's like telling someone "don't think about a white elephant" (or the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man). I wonder if that info really needs to be in there. It's supposed to be a self-contained setting, right?

Cheers
Nell.

It can be used as either a self-contained setting or as a supplement to an existing campaign. Several GMs have told me that they use it to throw a monkey wrench into the plans of their contrary PCs. Sort of a "Rogue fails disable device check. Trap blows up. Ooops, that bag of holding you were carrying failed its save and you've all been sucked out of the cavern and wind up in a jungle. What do you do?"

Which is somewhat evil, but having always been an evil GM myself, I can appreciate. ;)
