I don't know about "let." But I certainly intend to vote for it.
But why? I mean, I like genies just fine--an effrit is a recurring NPC in my campaign--but it's not an elemental, it's obviously a fiend. Sure, the 5E says that genies are elementals, but it also says that friggin' gargoyles are elementals (when they're obviously constructs). SNAILS are elementals (when they're obviously aberrations). Who thought this was a good idea?

I need to go lie down.

Also.. sorry to be a pedant (pedantry? on a gamer forum? Inconceivable!) but the Ifrit, as they appear in their original Arabian context, are beings of fire.

Yeah yeah, so are oodles of other fiends.

Because Ifrit are fiends.

I mean, they are evil, fiery creatures with fangs and horns, powerful, terrible magic. Oh but this one's gotta be different because nobody-knows-why, let's just make up a reason.

(I'm making this sound a lot more important to me than it really is. I'm having fun here, and it's fun to mock imaginary monsters. Your vision of these monsters is just as valid as my own, but you didn't hear it from me.)

But Ifrit (most of them anyway) have accepted Islam. So, unlike fiends from Christian mythology, they can be redeemed. And by personal choice.

Also the horns thing is just a DnDism. (What d'ya mean this is a DnD thread? ;-) )

Edit: also, all just jokes here on my end too. :-D

I don't wanna violate the "no politics or religion" rules of the forum, so just pretend I wrote a profound essay on the Protestant Reformation, John Calvin, and free will, within the context of redemption. ;)

Vote for real Elementals, folks. These imposters only wish they could be elementals. (See what I did there?)

Anyway, I've said my piece; I'll move on. Thanks for listening to me vent.

Well, I don't want to push you into an unwanted conversation, but you've got me curious, if you don't mind - what is your definition of 'elemental'?

Air Elemental 6
Dao 7
Djinni 7
Earth Elemental 6
Efreeti 10

Elder Tempest 9
Water Elemental 10

Genasi are elemental too. And so is this:
