And the Warlock and the Sorcer....o.....e.....u....o....er, combined, tell us one thing- what ever happened to the Magic User?
I like the warlock, but I see the arguments that it's not distinct enough from the sorcerer. However, my instinct would be to roll it the other way and create dragon-blood warlocks and chaos warlocks and remove the sorcerer. In 3.X it was an experiment in a different way to Wizard. Now with the changes to spell preparation and slots, I feel like the sorcerer isn't as necessary, and the two sub-classes feel very specific, with no such thing as a "generic" sorcerer.
I woulda been more than happy to select Barbarians, but you only let us pick one...and let's face it, the Sorcerers are just awful.
A side effect of watching "Martin" in the 90s is I just say "Shanaynay" when I see that druid thing, whatever it is supposed to be. A side effect of playing WoW for a decade is I can't imagine playing a Druid unless I could turn into a bear and... avoid owls I guess because, that kind of kink it just wrong... (but it made for a great moment in an old game when our groups Int 8, Wis 8 Barbarian saw his first Owlbear...)
That said, I voted for "Wizard" because it just seems like WotC is slowly trying to replace them with every other magic-user it can come up with, but is afraid to pull the trigger on it... I say... get it over with, or stop trying and finally accept them. Since I don't see Sorcerer, Warlock, and whatever else they will come up with this edition going away... I'm just going to say "enough already and admit you don't like Wizard".
I don't mind Wizards... I just think WotC needs to make a choice here and stop it with trying to subtlety tell us not to play them, over and over again...
