As a physicist and a logician i can never take kenobi (lord of the derp side) seriously. "Only sith deal in absolutes". This hurts me in my sith soul.

The advantage in facing off against a Bard in an arcane duel is, you can hear him coming. (And casting - Shield and Counterspell will never go to waste.)

@doctorbadwolf i mean, its pretty obvious it was conceived of as a magical take on the rogue. like, super obvious.

Ehh, it was conceived more as like a Nordic Skald or a Gaelic... well, bard. At the time there was no “rogue,” just the thief, and the Bard was definitely not that with magic. If you have to define it in relationship to the core classes, it was really more like a fighter with magic, which needed some thief levels because they were meant to be competent in many areas and at the time most of what would later become skills were Thief class features.
