A first post kill? THAT came out of nowhere lol. Glad to see the bard win, I seriously think it's the best designed class in 5e. The rogue's pretty awesome too, though, so I'm satisfied with the other finalist as well.

I am glad the bard won as well.

My favourite classes in 5e are bard and monk. I am a little surprised by the hate the monk got. I never liked them before 5e, but think they fit in perfectly with the system and are well designed. Well, with the exception of the Elemental Monk which I think is the worst designed subclass in 5e.

I'm pretty sure that all the monk hate is due to thematic dissonance, rather than bad design. The usual eastern-western flavor thing.

I am not surprised that the Bard made it to the end--it languished for a long time in D&D, and developed rather a reputation of sounding more awesome than it was. 4e reversed that trend, and 5e kept much of that. It really is a "jack of all trades," but you can build it to be really good at particular things too.

I am somewhat surprised that it didn't come down to Fighter vs. Bard--and I think that, if it had, things might have swung differently.
