Could you help me understand what's so great about the Ring of Free Action? Serious question, I promise I'm not trolling. What am I not seeing?
The second one I guess, but not really. It comes down to versatility for me. With only three attunement slots for magic items, I prefer items that have more than one function (especially if I get to decide when/where it functions to begin with). That's why the Ring of Shooting Stars is the best IMO: it's a friggin' Swiss Army knife of light, and it's always under my control.Well, I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you asking in kind of absolute terms (like "how much would pay for this ring?") or relative to the other rings? Either way, it's certainly subjective, depending on how much you fear being paralyzed, restrained, or magically slowed.
I totally get the nostalgia angle. When I'm no longer able to upvote the Ring of Shooting Stars, I'll switch to the other iconic ring on the list, Feather Falling.Oh, it's not that great at all, really. At least not in 5e. What it is, however, is somewhat iconic, as far as magic rings in D&D go. That might be a product of D&D computer games more than anything though (EoB, Baldur's Gate, etc.)
