I hadn't read Creative Campaigning before this thread, but have now and it's a great guide to help with campaign design and flavour, better than the Campaign Sourcebook and Catacomb Guide which, while useful in places, often stated the obvious and seemed to be aimed at total beginners.

Disagree.

What are you disagreeing with? That 25 years ago a much smaller soft back book with less page count, no color art, and lower production costs cost $15 (which is $27 in today's money)? Or the fact that that if a complete guide in today's money is almost $30, then $50 for a larger book with much higher production value isn't that much?

The Player's Option Books were $25 back in the 90s, which is $40 now. And that's not factoring how the cost of printing has gone up in general, outpacing inflation, over the past 20 years. $50 seems a pretty typical price for a full color hardback book of that size now. This isn't really something you can disagree about, as there is clear objective data we can look at to show how $50 is not overpriced by typical standards.

I disagree with the notion that "$50 isn't a high price in today's dollars at all," as you said before.

Fifty dollars is a lot of money to spend on a toy or a game. It's enough to buy an entire, complete game...or several, even, if you're savvy. VGtM is not a complete game, it is only an expansion pack...comparable to paying $50 for one expansion pack for Catan, or $50 for one of the Fallout 4 DLCs. That's nuts.
