Sustain Effect: When?

Does an effect that can be sustained begin on the same turn as the main effect occurs? Or does it begin on the next turn.

Starting on the turn after you create an effect, you sustain the effect by taking the indicated action....

Under standard English usage, this phrasing would refer to the next turn, not later the same turn.
