Swallow a potion as a free action

Looking through the SRD I see it not, but IMC, we use a rule that exhertion halves the duration of the time you can hold your breathe.... Not that it really matters in this case, as most seem to have battles that only last a few rounds.

I might allow the tactic, but I think the penalties suggested by others above for trying to hold a liquid, or anything else for that matter in one's mouth while participating in lethal battle are far too mild. You could always experiment, by entering a pub, taking a swig of your local preferred brew, not swallowing, then punching a biker in the face, and after facing the inevitable consequences, see how much of the "potion" you can dribble back into the glass. Don't forget to strain the blood and teeth from the resulting "concoction"...

Suicide pills that were hidden in the mouth during WWII usually were replacing teeth, and required serious biting on to release the cyanide (you don't want agents accidentally killing themselves). Not a pill you lolled around under your tongue while mortar rounds and rocket salves exploded overhead.

My $0.02...

According to the rules, just pouring a potion into the mouth of an unconscious character activates it. So IMC holding the potion in your mouth would be enough to activate it.
