Swamp Trek III: The Search for Ter-raen

Round 1, continued[sblock=ooc]
Richard misses. Critical fumbles are an optional alternate rule, I believe, not part of RAW for LEW, so it doesn't apply here. I dislike fumbles, myself; I think it's just not heroic, realistic, or fun to have trained, experienced warriors with a 1-in-40 chance of disaster every time they attack.

We play with Card-crits, multi-attacks, and a plethora of other alternate rules... slightly balanced by the possibility of hitting an Ally (1,1, To Hit Roll able to hit Ally in range) or yourself (1,1,1, - 01-10% Strike Self; 11-90 lose weapon, roll d8 for direction, roll vs STR for distance; 91-00 Strike Original Target on Accident)
In this case, I'm happy to have RR be a tad embarassed, and Onnn with the Shewwww:
[/sblock]
Richard recovers his blade, trying to channel his embarassment into a killing blow, and yet he holds back a bit short of going all out, perhaps caution wins the war over blood-lust and wounded pride.[sblock=crunchy bits]+8 Hit, +2 Hit (Flanking), -2 Hit (-2/+2 PA) = +8 Hit
d10+2 damage, +2 Damage (-2/+2 PA) = d10+6 (4*1.5 Two Handed STR Bonus)
17 To Hit, 16 Damage![/sblock]

Weel Naxel, human cleric

Thankful to have staved off death in his comrade, Weel touches him again as he prays. While he's still clearly in bad shape, his breath deepens and he begins to stir.

[sblock=OOC]IC is down again. I tried the CoCo roller which is ... less than user friendly. Took me a while to even figure out what I had to do to get the the dice roller in there (and from some of the sessions listed, I'm not the only one). Ah, well, it's new and these things happen. :)

In any case, dunno if this link will work, but Weel's other CLW: 1d8+1=7[/sblock]

Agroan from karl as he stirs shows the healing power is effective as karl respons by lifting his head and then looking a bit crosseyed. "ouch. reminder to self: don't repeat that experiance"

[planned action]
karl will roll and tumble away from the Ankheg (take 10? for 15 or tumble +5) as a move action (as far as he can which I think is 15 feet) and stand as a standard action.
[/planned action]
the above planned action is subject to dm approval.

Richard is confident in his swing, sure also of the mighty blow he's about to land... and he misses!?
'The bug's shell must have deflected the blow, but I'll get him this time!'
Again the fighter takes his sword in a two-handed grip and this time swings down squarely upon the huge insects' back![sblock=crunchy bits]+8 Hit, +2 Hit (Flanking), -2 Hit (-2/+2 PA) = +8 Hit
d10+2 damage, +2 Damage (-2/+2 PA) = d10+6 (4*1.5 Two Handed STR Bonus)
To Hit: 19*+8=27, Dmg: 7+6=13
*Critical Threat! Confirm Critical =?? 9+8=17 A 17 missed earlier, but I figure I'd ask if something changed. Hey, I have to try :) 1+6=7, Not the greatest Critical Damage, rolled JIC[/sblock]

Round 2, continued

Gildrim tries a wild swing of his own, but it glances harmlessly from the ankheg's armored flank.

Round 3

Karl waits, unconscious.

Richard swings again, another two-handed blow, holding back just a bit this time in favor of increased accuracy. It isn't quite enough, as his blade only scratches hard chitin, not damaging the monster.

Weel administers more healing to Karl, who wakes, though still badly wounded.

The ankheg snaps at Gildrim again, but seems baffled by the dwarf's armor.

[sblock=ooc]Hold on there, now. The monsters get a turn, too!

Gildrim misses.

Karl is unconscious and can't act.

Richard isn't flanking, so that +2 doesn't apply. Doesn't matter, it misses anyway.

Weel heals Karl for 7, bringing him back to consciousness. Karl is prone.

The ankheg attacks Gildrim, 1d20+7=10 misses. Hmm, CoCo doesn't seem to like my ankhegs. 6 d20 rolls, 4.7 average.

Gildrim is up. I'll see whether Karl and Richard's actions are valid at that point; likely they will be, but who knows.

[/sblock]

[sblock=status and initiative]

Karl 4/10, prone
Richard 40/40
Weel 10/10
Ankheg dead
Ankheg 2, 16/28
Gildrim 34/34 <== You're up

Gildrim, AC 15, HP 34/34

Gildrim sidesteps the snapping jaws and with a grunt hammers his sword into the ankheg's carapace.
[sblock=OOC]Move to L9 to flank, reckless offense, 1d10+12=21, 2d6+5=9. Forgot all the bonuses, so only rolled 1d10+10, but there we go. Better than I thought.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC: ] Richard would like to move to a flanking position for his next (last) attack... with Gildrim also moving, and Richard a 4th level fighter, I'll let you decide where he would be moving as he would know better than me :)
( I thought he already Was flanking! :p )[/sblock]

Weel Naxel, human cleric

With a sigh of relief as Karl wakens, Weel backpeddles, aiming and firing his crossbow, though the bolt flies well above everyone's heads as the cleric attempts to avoid hitting his comrades.

[sblock=OOC]Move to J4, then a rather miserable attack roll:

Crossbow attack vs. Ankegh. (1d20-4=-2, 1d8=1)

I assumed that Weel could be carrying the loaded crossbow while he healed Karl; he needs two hands to fire the crossbow, not to carry it, and only one hand needs to be free to cast the cures. If he has to 're-ready' the crossbow, then no attack this round, just the move. (which is effectively the same thing as what just happened, anyway. ;) )[/sblock]
