Swamp Trek III: The Search for Ter-raen

[sblock=ooc]So the plan is to try to find your own way through the swamp to the manor? Okay. You'll need to make survival checks to find your way through the swamp without getting lost. I'll make the actual rolls for you, but I need you to tell me who's leading, who's assisting, etc. I'll allow one person to assist without slowing you down, but with each additional person using aid another, it slows your progress down, as you have to come to an agreement about which way to go.

Also, this will be the last civilization for a few days when you leave, so if you've got any further preparations to make, now's the time. [/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]I guess. For various reasons, I've been uninspired to post for the last few days. Sorry. Anyway, Gildrim has a +7 in Survival and Richard +6, beating Weel's +4 and Karl's +1, so I suppose the way to go is to have Gildrim, who has been to the manor before, lead the way with Richard, shiny new Ranger, assisting.[/sblock]

Richard will be glad to assist, and learn, on our trek into the swamp.[sblock=OOC: ]Richard takes a step towards the swamp, his brows crease, he looks back at Gildrim, "Wait, I'm Shiny!???" [/sblock]

Gildrim gets to his feet, an expression crossing his face that, if it were possible to read, says now is not the time to tell Karl that a shocker lizard makes its home in the ruined Manor's shoe closet.

"Erf and th' lassie are mair at hame in th' swamp than Ah am, an' Ah'm nae sae shuir that mah tongue is honeyed, Sister. Ah think mebbe th' ithers hae th' richt ay it. If th' fowk find us, we gie a warnin'."

"If we run intae Corvin, Ah'll pruive Ah'm alive, but Ah dinnae think we can perswad him tae gae back tae Cragger's Rest afair he's spilled bluid. An' whit ay th' village? Haes he laft eneuch hale bodies tae defend it?"

"guys, is the swamp any place for pack annimals?or should we see if we can leave them here? I am carrieing the tribute for the lizard folk, pots and pans and such on my mule."

Richard looks at Karl, then at Sally.
"Hmmm... good point. I had planned on carrying my armor, but our horses are a different matter."
Looking defeated, the fighter turns to the priestess, "Beggin your pardon ma'am, do you know anyone who could guide us in the swamp? I'm guessing we will do more harm than good to the swamp creatures and folk if we just strike out on our own. Also, there's our animals... " he strokes the broad neck of his horse, "I guess I'm afraid to take them out into a bog or somesuch."

"No tribute, lad - peyment, for days' labourin'!" Gildrim grumbles. "Onyway, lest time, we haed a dog wi' us, an' his legs war lang eneuch tae mak his wey throu th' mire. Altho why ye aye want tae traivel wi' mair than ye can cairy oan yer ain shouders, Ah dinnae ken."

"Yes, day's wages. True."
then to the priestess, "Mi' lady ... " he looks like is about to go on, then a look of puzzlement crosses his face. He then falls to one knee and bows deeply, " mistriss of the temple, I do beg your forgiveness, I have not even properly introduced my self," though his manners are clumsey, his intentions are true, "I am Karl Ruthersford, explorer. To whome do I have the honor and pleasure of addressing?"

"Whit!?" Gildrim explodes. "She's Sister Anemone, in th' service ay Galatea! Daes naebody tak ony tent tae me! Ah tauld ye aboot her oan th' wey. Did... did Ah nae?"

OOC: :p

Weel Naxel, human cleric

((OOC: sorry. RL has been one big conflict after another, without much time for posting))

Weel finally stops chewing his lip to offer his two coppers. "If finding the lizardfolk is like to be as hard as the good priestess suggests, we might want to shed the extra haggis ... wait: baggage. That."
