SWTOR finally has a launch date

Aaaaaand surprise, surprise, Oceania gets ignored. For North America, they get it on December 20th this year whilst Europeans get it two days later.

So I was locked out of beta testing, locked out of pre-purchasing, and now I'm not even sure if I'll ever be able to play it 'cause they haven't even bothered to announce if it'll be available outside of NA or Europe.

I think I'm just meh over it all now. It's taken so long to come out with so many disappointments that unless I hear rave reviews of it's pure unadulterated awesomeness, I think I might end up giving it a miss.

Bring on Secret World instead!

The game isn't region locked. You can always order a copy from Amazon and just ship it overseas. I do believe you can even get the preorder bonuses (like Early Access) that way.

And very shiny it'll look on his PC - but since it's an online-only game, he won't be able to do much with it unless either the US or European servers cater to Antipodean subscribers.

They do. Apparently Bioware is not region-locking the area servers. So theoretically you can play on the US servers even if you live in Europe, or vice-versa. The only issue is lag.

I'm not sure if you can play on both servers at the same time, though. You might have to set up your account specifically for one or the other. But you could live in Europe or Australia and have a North American account.
