"System Orphan" Looking for a Home

I don't feel like a system orphan, more like a game group orphan. Our group has decreased from 7-8 players at one time about 10 years ago to 3 now. Some moved away, and some just moved on. Even when we had a big group, I felt like an orphan at times because D&D was the lowest common denominator--the one thing that everyone liked and the one that was the only game for some. So, when I wanted to run something else, it got less support.

Now, a game has to be a perfect storm: compelling story, accessible rules (this usually means d20 or Savage Worlds for me), and painted minis (I have some to use). It also has be basically designed for (or modified to) 2 players. But, I like the friends I currently game with. After 10 or 20 years gaming with these 2 buddies, I don't feel too motivated to go recruit new players.

Seeing your other posts, I think might be part of the dynamic you're facing. My advice is to just focus on your group and tailor the game to the group.
