Leaving Midias on watch, everyone else maneuvers around to head south, with the net stretched out to catch anything that gets in the way.
Pendrake has an unsettling view beside the drop off into the greasy dark sea.
The cobbles on the western side of the Square are slick with ground-in fish scales - and other less savoury remnants - that cast back the light in thousands of silvery glints. But in some places, there are far fewer glints. These less shiny areas form a criss-cross of looping paths from which the fish guts have been scoured. It is as though an enormous snail has left behind a dark trail. If the party had explored this way before running into the creature, then perhaps these traces would have been helpful in tracking it. It is a little late now, however.
The second thing takes a while longer to notice, and it is Gillin who voices it: "
I can't smell that foul reek here. There's nothing in my nose but fish."
It is true. In heading south, the party has moved out of the rotting miasma that accompanies the creature.[sblock=Map]OOG: human view, Ngikhnit and Quozen can see a little more, but nothing that hasn't been seen before.
Also, I think we've clearly dropped out of combat order at this point. When the creature is found again, or finds you, I guess we'll roll initiative again, depending on just how it turns out.[/sblock]
