T1: A Visit to Spelding Square [Completed]

Ngikhnit follows Pendrake and Quozen, hoping he can at least make it to the already-created hole, but realizing if the roof can't support Pendrake's weight it wouldn't stand a chance under his own feet.

How he proceeds down the hole (jump? shimmy?) will depend on what he sees when he gets to the hole's edge.

OOG: I'm not sure I completely understand. Is Ngikhnit taking any precautions in crossing the roof?[/sblock][sblock=Pendrake]Quozen lands with all the grace of a cat at one side of the shed.

Above Pendrake's hammock, the creature unpeels itself and begins moving closer. As it does so, it slips from sight.[/sblock][sblock=Quozen]Quozen lands with all the grace of a cat at one side of a space about as cluttered with junk as the yard is.

Pendrake, though, unable to see beneath him, drops right into a suspended fishing net, one end of which is attached to the central pole supporting the roof, and ends up tangled in it.

Next to the pole, clinging clammily to the underside of the roof, is the last creature, a thick rubbery blob of darkness with two waving tentacles, whose edges blur uneasily. It unpeels itself and begins moving towards the pole, slipping from sight once more.[/sblock]OOG: Ngikhnit's action to resolve; and Midias?

Midias climbs up the ladder as far as possible.

He's just going to try an run across. If he ends up falling through a new hole before he gets there, so be it -- he's not optimistic about making it.[/sblock]

[sblock=Midias]While Midias is making his way to the top of the ladder, there is a clatter and a solid thump. At the top, he finds he really has nowhere to go, his path blocked by a gaping hole in the roof's wooden shingles. Through it, he can see Ngikhnit lying flat out on a pile of sailcloth.

Below, Gillin says to Peladus, "No, lad, my hands are shaky, even without the drink. You can do it! Don't need anything fancy - just Jack's spoon and a sallytickler."[/sblock][sblock=Ngikhnit]Ngikhnit sets off on his run up the roof, but his forebodings are well founded as a foot punches right through a fragile shingle sending him full length onto a roof that cannot support his weight at all. In a shower of shingles, he tumbles right through.

There is a brief bizarre glimpse of Pendrake hanging tangled in a fishing net before Ngikhnit hits with a thump, fortunately on a relatively soft stack of sailcloth.

OOG: DC 15 Jump check to avoid 1d6=6 nonlethal damage, which I'm afraid will knock Ngikhnit unconscious, as he has only 4 HP.[/sblock][sblock=Peladus]While Midias makes his way to the top of the ladder, there is a clatter and a solid thump from the roof.

Gillin demurs. "No, lad, my hands are shaky, even without the drink. You can do it! Don't need anything fancy - just Jack's spoon and a sallytickler."

OOG: Gillin's Open Lock aid another attempt 1d20+4=9. Sorry.[/sblock][sblock=Pendrake, Quozen]The roof comes apart as Ngikhnit tries to cross it too. He falls through in a shower of shingles, landing with a solid thump on a pile of sailcloth.

Outside, Gillin speaks with Peladus.[/sblock]OOG: waiting for Ngikhnit's roll, then will continue, perhaps with an actual map. Ooo.

Midias decides to stay up. He looks for a stable position, and if he finds one, he draws and loads his crossbow.

Ngikhnit's armour makes it difficult to fall safely; fortunately, his physical training proves to be adequate (just barely) to the task. He lands on a pile of cloth unhurt (well, no more hurt than he was before his fall).
