I ran an encounter the other week with a critter with the wonderful 'Swallow Whole' ability...
My players had a unique way of dealing with it... They buffed the rogue, and tried to get him eaten...
Because once he's swallowed he can fire off sneak attacks every round, until he cuts himself out and muscular action closes the hole... at which point, he tried to get himself eaten again...
The rogue asked if there was a way he could carry on hacking away without 'falling out'.. I ruled against this.. the other players, simply sat and watched, with the the druid and the cleric readying actions with 'acid-proofing' spells and the odd cure for when the rogue popped out.
This is a new level of 'Tactics' that I think can only come from a D&D game.
Any other stories of fantastic uses of game mechanics and D&D world-only tactics out there?
(BTW: The Devine Flavor gag was done to death in that session, so please restrain yourselves!)
