Tailored Prestige Class

First Post
For my current character I am playing a wizard. I've been trying to pick a prestige class to go into because I don't like playing a wizard from 1 to 20. I don't see the point. I like the Unseen Seer class from page 81 in the Complete Mage and I specialized in divination. My character however is not very sneaky or rogue like.

What I want to do is replace the damage bonus in the Unseen Seer class with something more appropriate to my character. For the same reason I need to change the class skills and prerequisites to enter the class. I don't want to multiclass and I want something fair that my DM will accept.

My character uses divination to learn as much as he can about things ahead so he can be prepared. He is also interested in the pure pursuit of knowledge. Mostly in the field of magic. He also uses a crossbow in case magic can't cut it.

My problem is I don't know what's appropriate. How good exactly is a 4d6 damage bonus to sneak attacks, skirmishes, or sudden strikes?

So, any suggestions? Also, alternative prestige class suggestions are welcome.

I looked at those and I took a second look just now. They fit my character a little better. I don't like the esoterica of the master specialist though. The loremaster's abilities are nice but I feel like they won't be useful because my DM likes to make some stuff up as she goes. I feel like the loremaster should be given information in secret so he can be all "I've read about this." instead of having to ask if there's anything my character should know.

Paragnostic Apostle (Complete Champion) seems to be what you're looking for. It grants full casting progression, along with lots of minor powers based on your ranks in knowledge skills to pick and choose from. Also meshes nicely with Loremaster.

Concerning the DM's information policy: this is really more a question of how you'll handle the basic issue of "character knowledge vs. player knowledge" in your game. Especially when playing a character based around the pursuit of knowledge, you should work something out with your DM to suit both of you. For example, whenever the DM wants to establish some piece of background information, he could tell you beforehand and leave it to your character to spread the news. That way, not only does your character come across as the 'walking library'; the piece of lore your DM wants established is also much more easily accepted as an atmospheric bit of the game world, not as a functional piece of quest-relevant information.

While not exactly RAW, I like to carry the Bardic Knack ACF (PH2 35) over to classes that grant the Lore ability.

It might be worth passing it by your DM.

Well thank you everyone who helped it was much appreciated. I suppose asking people to rewrite a whole prestige class for a different type of character and to ask that it be balanced is a little much. I didn't really think about it before posting.

I've decided to go: Wizard 5/Paragnostic Apostle 5/Loremaster 10.

Thanks again especially to Empirate. I almost never look at the complete champion.
