I don't see a need for taking a 20 on hide. Assuming you have time to hide yourself, if you give yourself full cover, no one will be able to see you anyway, so need for a hide check. And, if you don't have anything to cover up with or hide behind (ie using concealment) then I don't see how you could take a 20 to hide in shadows. Either you can do it, or you can't (being careful is a 10).
