Continuing on the "Chapter 8 is sample campaign setting" train of thought: FR and Greyhawk are good options for inclusion, as is Nentir Vale (even if I'm not a fan, it makes sense). I think Mystara would be a cool idea, as would something based off of the original "setting" for the D&D cartoon. I know they got moved into FR, but I think a peak at the world they first got pulled into would be interesting.

My complete out of left field idea: The First World.

Perkins also talked in the video about the importance of teaching the history of the game to new DMs picking up their first DMG. Showing how to create a campaign world by walking thru how Gygax created Greyhawk would fit that bill perfectly. And I could see a lot of long time players picking up the DMG just for that. And so I'll say...

Greyhawk confirmed!
Counter- Ed Greenwood could contribute to an FR example. But yeah probably.
I like the tables for customizing magic items. I've used those a lot.
Yeah I like to cross reference those with Xanathar’s common magic items. If it can be common, it can be a minor trait, and vise versa.
Just out of curiousity what gaps do you think the RD&D MM needs to fill? I think for lower levels, Celestials are a big one, for higher levels I'm not sure.
Fey, is the one that really bugs me. There should be fey at just about every CR, and enough of them to base a campaign on the Fey.

Why are magic items in the middle (putting them at the back makes it easier to find the chapter like in previous editions)?
If they could just put a visual indicator on the edge of the paper showing which chapter is which, they could put them anywhere. The 50th anniversary would be a great time for WotC to take a cue from how many, many other books, RPG and otherwise, do this kind of stuff.

My complete out of left field idea: The First World.
That’s a good point. The First World seems to have been lost in the shuffle. They did say it was going to be coming. Why not put the ”primordial” setting that’s a reflection of all other settings into the DMG?

If this is true, that is a big plus to get D&D24 for those who already have D&D5e core books. Yes, I know Wizards of the Coast at the recent creators summit said all D&D is just one D&D, but when you have multiple copies of the D&D core rulebooks, you really need an easy way to differentiate D&D24 from D&D5e, and those are two nice shortform phrases.

Exactly my thoughts. It would make sense as a callback, and also the Nentir Vale has already proven that it can fit into a DMG. Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms or Blackmoor would just be too big to fit in a single chapter of the DMG.
This too is logical, since D&D4e is more well known to younger Dungeon Masters than Greyhawk.
So a DMG24 with Nentir Vale could also be a good seller.

Either way, this makes D&D24 core books exciting. Pity we cannot have both Nentir Vale and Greyhawk.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I'd love to see skill challenges included in the DMG. I've had great success in running skill challenges as a story device for my group. Build a scene consisting of 3 or 4 smaller scenes, each scene requires a certain number of rolls (not successes) to continue to the next scene. If the players get 3 failures something bad happens, but if they reach the end of the last scene before that happens the skill challenge succeeds. Also skill challenges can and should include tool proficiences as well as allow for crazy ideas that maybe wouldn't be as okay in for example combat.
