Taking bets on the launch of DDI

Speculation on the launch of the DDI is naturally rampant, and with the recent axing of Gleemax, we could suspect that DDI will be fully functional sooner rather than later. But then perhaps it means that it will simply add more cooks to an over crowded kitchen, and DDI will join Gleemax in the dead internet project graveyard.

[Edit]
:o Ah ha ha... of course Mahdi is right, it has "Launched" already. Let's say that for our purposes the DDI is properly launched when they begin charging money for access.

And since I saw Guys and Dolls last night, I think this is something we should start taking bets on. So: in your post claim a date that has not already been taken, August 8, 2008 for example. Attach your wager in the form of a sweet link. Like this one. The person who bets on the correct day, or the person closest without going over, wins. So if it's August 8, and I have Aug. 9, and you have Aug. 7: you win.

Winner gets the attached buttkickery.

So, I'll start: Oct. 31, 2008, for me. We'll see what kind of Frankenstein's monster WotC can put out for us. Any Takers?

[Edit, the second]
If you want to make a bet of Not Gonna Happen, make the pic a good one.

Except that technically, DDI has already launched. Sure, not all functions are up and running yet, esepecially the ones with all the crunch, but DDI has launched and is running (although not very well:-S). Now if your were going to speculate or "bet" on when other applications come on line; like the virtual game table, or the character visualizer, etc; that would make more sense.B-)

Its not fulfilled what was fully promised, so no its launched. You have two magazines, one seemingly half assed.

Personally I have no expection of it to be fully out there, until maybe next summer. But if ever is another thought.

joe, carmachu: if guys you like those dates, you'll need to pony up your bet. ;)

Or if you think next Summer, pick a day. I can go into 2009.

I wouldn't put real money on any specific date, but I expect by the end of this year WOTC will announce that DDI will be free but will not include most of the promised features, and will have been canceled by this time next year.

I have zero faith in WOTC's ability to pull this off.

Geez, guys. Look, I think it's going to tank myself, but do I have to start slapping people in the face with a fish before you loosen up and get the joke? Pick a day and go find some internet hilarity.

I expect the entire project to get cancelled before January '09, and whatever happens to be rushed out the door prior to that point will be buggy but free to use. However if the DDI is shut down, I would expect them to start charging for e-Dragon and e-Dungeon at that point.

And for that last bit, I'm projecting January 2009.
