Taking Care of RPG Books

Being too stressed about keeping books in pristine condition is like having those plastic slipcovers on all your furniture.

Four cats and two dogs. I wish we had plastic slipcovers on our furniture... and everything else frankly. :p

A friend's girlfriend, in a fit of anger during a quarrel, ripped out a single page from his PHB. And it seemed that every session someone would get caught trying to find a 1st level cleric spell and ask, "where the hell are the first level cleric spells?"

So, maybe another rule of thumb is to keep your books away from emotional people...

As I am the one making the investment, I don't lend them out. Period. Most people just don't care for your books like you do.
Well, I'm afraid I have to agree with this for the most part.

At the risk of sounding a little cynical about human nature, I have to say that I long ago adopted the maxim, "Don't lend out anything you can't afford to lose."

It's probably worth pointing out that I came to this revelation after the first time I ever let someone borrow my car.

I belive that books are meant to be used.

However, I have gotten in the habit of watching a local used game store for good condition copies of books I no longer use, but previously used too much. (most 1e and 2e books on my shelf look like they've never been touched)
