Tales from the Floating Vagabond?

Why convert it? Its a great one-shot game, but that sounds like a lot of work for a game you rarely play more than a few sessions of.

That said, I recently re-read it (or re-flipped-through-it), and was rather disappointed with how many rules there were in it. For a light humorous game, there were a lot of numbers involved.

I'll answer two-in-one!

Actually, the rationale behind a conversion was for the same reasons that Jcfiala brings up- there just seemed to be too many rules in the original for a light-hearted game, at least it seemed too combat oriented for such.

So I thought maybe converting it to a d20 base (given the prominence of that system these days) with streamlined rules would be an interesting exercise, and might make for a broader appeal. Something along the lines of the Polyhedron d20 game "Hijinx" (from issue 158), where the combat was very streamlined, and skills brought into at least a degree more prominence.

Plus, as a d20 system, it would then leave the GM and players the option of using the more involved/detailed d20 rules if they liked, without having to worry about too much hassle/confusion.

On one hand I have a copy, but on the other hand I don't really feel like playing by post. On the gripping hand I think the rules themself are part of a larger in joke. Like quantum physics they make more sense when you are drunk, or atleast you care less about the complexities.

I think my favorite after all of these years is still the Theme Music schtic. "The music had changed, I knew there was trouble..."

I have to demand you quit talking about this game!! I'm beginning to regret selling it a while ago :(

Had the thing for years read it all the time, tell the core book started to fall apart, but never did get around to playing it..... :(
