if you're still looking for characters on the good side (darn missing that evil cutoff though, haven't done that in awhile) I have a concept that would develop into a holy warrior type in time. Basic cleric to start (for flavor) then into some fighter and eventually I have level progressions and prestige line-ups all the way to twenty.

Assayo was born in the town of Ba'Kiu, on an island a short distance from
a resource rich continent just beginning to be explored by the more civilized
realms of his world. The island's position has led it to undergo a striking transformation
in just a few generations from a primitve land filled with tribesman warring between
islands and the mainland to the home of a bustling port. While most of the land is covered
in dense jungle to this day, most of the land's people now live and work and in the city of
Korama. The islands most striking feature is an active volcano in it's very center which still
smokes and occasionally spews forth lava down the far side of the island.
This volcano, the builder of the island itself, had been worshipped in it's many aspects since
antiquity and it's patron goddess Joramy reveals herself to it's high priests and, rarely, at
great festivals in her honor. Assayo's reddish hair, a rarity amongst his people, marked him from
birth as Joramy's servant, a fact which delighted his mother, who serves the goddess as a so
called "Priestess of the Ash."
Assayo's father served as a defender of his people before being killed in a pirate raid. He was a
member of what is now known to the outside world as the Port Guard. This group still trains in the
jungles and amongst the lava fields of the island upholding the traditions of the Lava Dancers, the
people's ancient warrior caste.
Although marked to serve the goddess Assayo has spent his early years not only studying the doctrine
of his patron and the history of his people, but also in the early study of martial pursuits in the
hopes of foloowing in his father's footsteps and pleasing his mother by becoming a Knight of Fire and
Smoke, the temple's more militant arm. Thus far his study of religion is further along than his
rudimentry martial training, but he aspires to achieve a balance of the two.
