Tanglefoot bags are overpowered and not well defined. We house-ruled them straight out of our campaigns entirely.

To echo the last poster: Something along those lines would make quite a lot of sense

Just be glad the DM didn't have a hobgoblin cleric or bard cast Silence on the tanglefoot bags before they smacked you with them. Then you'd be unable to communicate or cast spells with V components for 15 minutes as well. . . .

Of course, now that you know about it, use them on his NPCs.

Tanglefoot bags are preety strong weapons, but not stupid, I think they are a cool weapon.

Now a bola is a broken weapon, automatic trip if you hit.
