Tarrasque .... Grrrrrr

Always considered the Game Breaker... some people often talk about their END GAME 30th lvl Campaign Boss being Orcus, Loth or other Gods but people seem to avoid the Tarrasque like he is undefeatable.

I just wanted to know if anyone has dealt with him in a realistic END GAME battle and if so what happened.

Have always wanted to build a Campaign around the Tarrasque. Thought about the Cult of Tarrasque, a religion devoted to his return - an area of the world where it is said he rests and various artifacts (dotted around the world and guarded by anything from hoardes of Undead to Lich, Dragons or Gods) that are needed to bring his sleeping conciousness into material form.

I am pretty such I could build an entire Campaign Arc around him and have toyed around with some fake 30th lvl party vs Tarrasque battles on paper to see what results I could get but with 1420 HP, ignores resistance, Frenzy while bloodied meaning that anyone close to him gets a good 17-30 dmg and ongoing 15... Potentially this could mean anyone close to him gets 32-45 dmg per turn if he hits you, with more if you dont save

Hes a tuffie, thats for sure

Anyone had some experiences with him?

I think it's the opposite: It's too easy to defeat the tarrasque at level 30. Even upgrading her to MM3 damage wouldn't change that unless one also gives her a few more level. A lvl 30 solo is just a run-off-the-mill fight for level 30 characters, that's why people use opponents that are above level 30.

That's also not any fault of the tarrasque, that's just how it's supposed to be. An equal level fight is not supposed to be really challenging for a level 30 party, that's the job of level+X encounters.

So the tarrasque would be more of a challenge for a level 25 party and then later at level 30 they face down the level 35 deity/primordial who released the tarrasque

Uhh... what? Who does?

The tarrasque's problem is that you just have to fly and take your time and you win.

Well..... yes and no:

Earthbinding aura 40; any flying creature in the aura has its fly speed reduced to 1 and maximum altitude reduced to 20 feet (putting it within the tarrasque’s reach). Any creature above this altitude at the end of its turn falls to an altitude of 20 feet automatically.

The tarrasque in the MM1 simply doesn't deal enough damage to challenge a 30th-level party.

I've done up an MM3-specced version of the tarrasque, but without a 30th-level party couldn't test it. Also, the ray reflection thing I gave it is worded kind of wonkily.

I've always wanted to run a game like this too, where you build up to fighting the Tarrasque. Then I heard that he was weaksauce. I'd like to see someone do up a nice juicy MM3 supertarrasque stat block.

Fly higher to start with.
