Charlarn notes, "I guess that's settled then. Kirin, I wouldn't want to force you from a path of your choosing. May your next journey be more in tune with your calling. Irene, Tenebrynn, Nurlan—I will see you tomorrow morning by the caravan. Goodnight."

"Maybe I should get some rest as well then." Irene finishes her drink, says "Goodnight, see you all in the morning" and walks to her room.

[OoC: Irene's going for the adventure in the morning as well.]

"I'm going to take my leave as well gents, lady, I have some things I want to check at the library before we begin. Good night all and see you in the morning." Tenebrynn says departing.

Adamant trudges through the door of the inn just as breakfast begins to be served. The rugged halfling, dressed in leather armor as well as numerous weapons, pauses for a moment before approaching the barkeep. He provides his name, but simply shakes his head when asked to elaborate. "There is nothing to tell," is his only response.

He had attempted sleep, the night before, but found that it would not come. So, he simply rose from the small patch of dirt between two great roots of a tree and hiked through the night, approaching the city of Orssus as the first light of the sun crested a hill. Adamant finds that he is still not tired.

Adamant turns from the bar to face any other patrons.

A gnomish woman is already perched on a high stool at one of the tables in the 'shorter' section. She has apparently come for breakfast from one of the inn's rooms for she is wearing simple clothes and has no weapons or belongings with her except for a silver pendant bearing the symbol of a lit candle. At her feet is a dog larger than it's owner, shortcoated like a horse and powerful in the shoulders. He starts to stand and wag his stubby tail at the new arrival, but the gnome gives him a sharp command in her native tongue.

"I'm sorry, sir, Cirus never quite caught on that he wasn't a lap pet... if my uncle had found some way to make his licks a weapon, he might not have dropped out of war dog training." With another command to keep Cirus in check she stands and extends a hand. "My name is Kirin, I'm here to help. I'm afraid you missed the crowd, they left goblin hunting earlier. But I'm sure more folks will join us and more announcements will be made... its the nature of the place."

Adamant smiles as he takes the gnome's hand. "Adamant," he says. "I'm not one for goblins, anyway."

He kneels down, extending his hand to the overgrown puppy, allowing Cirus to lick his hand. Adamant's hand nearly disappears beneath the lolling tongue.

"I'm am looking for work, though." He rises, wiping his wet hand on his clothing. "Tracker, bodyguard, whatever's needed. I'm a tanner, as well, though I would prefer something with a little more excitement." He smiles again, a wane one, as if he is unsure it is the appropriate time and place for such.

Kirin smiles more broadly. "I'm sure you'll find something exciting to do around here. I seek knowlege, protect the weak and try not to get killed. I have some powers of healing and protection, as well as the parlor tricks they teach my people as children. But you've said what you can do but not what you want to do... Do you seek fame, fortune, exercise or service? Or something else entirely? As I said before, I'm here to help, though my last adventure has caused me to invest in both knowlege and equiptment to be, er, more helpful." She smiles at a private joke, it seems one at her own expense.

Adamant thinks for a moment as he feels himself loosening up in Kirin's presence. It had been some time since another had been willing to carry on a conversation with him, let alone become interested in his owns goals and desires.

"I think I will stick with the something else entirely option." He nods to himself, as if in affirmation. "I seek..." approval, he almost says, "simple companionship. I have spent too many days in the wilderness without three words from another being."

He glances at the bar in front of her to see what breakfast she has already ordered. "Can I get you another..." he begins with a widening grin. "Another pancake?"

Kirin smiles and says "Well, I am not always the most talkative of mortals unless you would like to discuss the history of various religious movements..." She gasps in mock horror, "but I promise you at least three words a day for as long as we remain in the inn."
He glances at the bar in front of her to see what breakfast she has already ordered. "Can I get you another..." he begins with a widening grin. "Another pancake?"

Her smile expanding to a grin Kirin nods her thanks. "If you get a plate of sausage as well, Cirus will be your best friend in the universe for at least five minutes..."

Adamant laughs and nods. "Five minutes will do." He orders the plate of sausage, as well as the breakfast for Kirin and himself. When it arrives, he digs into the food, a nice reprieve from the shrunken berries and stringy meat of the past week.

"You say you seek knowledge, and to protect the weak," he says between mouthfuls. "And you have a background in religion, I take it. So is this tavern, this city, a place at which you can fulfill those goals? Or are you merely at a stopping point, a rest stop, along your way?"

He catches Cirus staring at him with wide, expectant eyes. Adamant chuckles and orders up another plate of sausage to replace the one licked entirely clean.
