Temple Quest:
Shadowlyn
Nielan
Mintrik
Loskrad
Kataki
(and ask Fant as well)

Anybody else have any thoughts?

Looking over the character sheets, I've realized we have an eensy teensy problem. Nielan, you realize that
An evil cleric of an evil diety is going to have some minor problems getting into a temple of hyrag, much less being hired by them? (The diety produces the majority of Enworldian paladins)
, right? I think I erred in putting this adventure up against the 'selfless do gooder' one, even though this is more profit motivated. It looks like there are more folks on the way who would fill in the temple quest nicely, so I think the easiest thing would be to let everyone who wants in on Coom get out the door and go from there.

"So maybe we should take a poll of the skills of those here, and see if we can split into 2 groups, one to help out Mr Coom, here, and one to help of the Hyrag temple?"

"Me personally, I have some skill in stealth and combat, but thats about it."
The gnomish woman smiles at the suggestion and when she can speak without interupting anyone else says "I am Kirin - I'm here to help. I have dedicated myself to knowlege and the protection of innocents, gaining some magical abilities in each area. I can also channel the healing power of magic and have recently aquired the means to use this ability more often. I have some training in negotiation, though little natural aptitude for it. Leaving aside the temple's probably feelings on hiring me, I am drawn most strongly to the innocents endangered in Coom's neighborhood. But if my talents are not needed, I'm satisfied to remain here a while." She speaks with obvious sincerity, but without the cadence and tone of a natural orator, and seems a bit embarrassed to have spoken about her self for so long.

A Gnome dressed in fine clothes enters the bar. He exchanges a few words with the barkeep then stands on a stool to make an announcement.
"Lord Donoros is looking for some bodyguards to accompany him on a hunting trip. The pay is 25 gold up front and 25 gold when the job is done. Those interested please follow me to the meeting room." With that he hops down and walks through the doorway.

OOC: A simple vignette. Its open to any characters.

Rillian ponders for a moment...
"Well, um, ah....

if Kirin, and Ignatious are willing, and Grogg, then I say we have a team. Though I certainly wouldnt mind the help of anyone else that's interested."

/ooc Certainly room for Torlax's character, or Jack, or anyone who really didnt want to do the Temple quest.

Minutes later, Jack returns wearing an almost undetectable mail shirt beneath his jerkin, and an exquisite shortsword at his side.

Introducing himself again, "Hullo, I'm Jack, and I'm a little sneak, if'n you happen to be needin' one."

He saves a seat at the bar for Lady Fant, picks up a bottle and starts back in where he'd earlier left off. He mulls over the latest job opportunities... Nothing for beating up a couple of thugs... 50 ennies to guard some cheap-skate noble... Or a share of five grand to go clean out some sewers.

Right now, at least, those sewers were looking pretty good.

kataki: "I said to help Coom out so... I'll join you too."

A young human walks into the Inn. He looks a little skittish from all the noise and confusion. He is garbed as a typical adventurer, though closer inspection will reveal the holy symbol of Hyrag hanging from a pendant about his neck. He approaches the bar nervously, ordering a mug of water. After talking with Joe for a little while, he turns and announces, "Reilin Maseth, cleric of Hyrag, seeking to be of some assistance!"

The soft-spoken cleric's shout doesn't carry very far, but he notices that it caught the attention of a large, milling group of adventurers a few tables away. Guessing that this might be a chance to find a purpose, he walks over and inquires of the situation. Upon hearing of the two requests for aid, he says, "I am a servant of Hyrag, and I would relish the chance to clear out one of His temples of the evil which resides there. But sir, if you have no need of me, then I'd be pleased to assist you, Mr... Coom, is it? I will go where my services are most useful."

OOC: I wasn't sure if it would be a problem, it's not like Neilan is going to tell them. But presumably Nielan would know more about the situation in Orussus than I do, and if it doesn't seem feasible, he'll go sit in the corner and think angry thoughts at the do-gooders.

edit: Also, looking at the situation that's developing in the tavern, I think the DMs involved are going to have to just grab a group of players each and go. It's only going to get worse as more keep showing up, and having the players decide who goes where could take weeks. In fact Coom has already been in the tavern for about a week, and he seems further from getting his quest underway than when he entered.

OOC: Wow, so many adventures all at once! I'm ok with however you want to split the people up. IC I think Mintrik and Loskrad would go together. Mintrik doesn't have many other friends yet ;)
