"Oh, I suppose that is not what you call it here then, is it? In my land, that is what we call it when warriors enter combat...and with that big unwieldy thing, my first-sister would likely have a spear in his side before long, I'd imagine."

Ah, that would be called dueling here, to fight with weapons. Or you could have a Mage Duel...But, To Dance is to...Struggling to find a good definition ah, I guess it's to move your body in patterns, for exercise and enjoyment. *Elise gets up and does a small untalented jig* usually we dance to music with another person maybe more.

"Yes, then that sounds the same as for my people. We also move our body in patterns for exercise and enjoyment, though sometimes also for self-defense, and we also dance to music, vocal usually, though sometimes with drums or a rare wind instrument, with one or more people."

"I'm a rather pathetic dancer...unlike many of my sisters, I have always been a pacifist at heart. I would have still needed to learn some other useful skill, since I couldn't fight, but fortunately my Talent was considered as such, and so I used it as an excuse to eschew combat study."

Striking similarities. Well then how well can you dance... In the self denfense way?

"She was not however a bad dancer in the more artistic sense. Lil'sis had this place hopping just before you came in, and Lasair was definately a site to behold as a dancer." Vanitri pauses and takes a sip before continuing. "Dancing is an art, but it is an art that can teach things well beyond the simple plesantries of a dance."

"Why thank you Vanitri. That's very kind of you, but I have never really trained in your kind of dancing either--but it seemed like fun and so I joined in and just tried to move with the music without stepping on anybody's feet!"

"Much of dancing comes natural. Few people never feel the rythem in their soul at one time or another, and I'm sure you have some natural talent with it as well. Some are just better at expressing it than others. I know I still have much to learn about the true nature of the dance myself, but I shall seak it."

"Even the people from your lands who live in utter penury still live a life of comfort compared to what I am used," Lasair says, somewhat mollified, "And Elise is right: You could still apologise, particularly if you hope a return apology from me, as I currently do not have any zij to you at all. Besides, the response you got from me was tame and calm compare to that you would find from any of my sisters...if you ever do encounter Meliana, then you must know that despite her great beauty and ample curves, her temper is quick compared to me, and she would ask you to dance if you ever dared call her soft. And anyway, if your parents could afford this nanny person you spoke of, assuming you did not just invent her as another joke, then that indicates at least a certain level of wealth--and what I say still holds: It is not those who yearn for peace who must have lived a life of comfort and peace but rather those who scoff at peace because they take it for granted. I am no rules-crazy stick-in-the-mud, but I also know that inciting anarchy in the name of the oppressed is an act that will cause more woe than weal."

"You will note I didn't call anyone weak or soft, nor did I incite anyone to rebellion. I was merely stating an opinion, and not even necessarily an opinion I hold dearly. However, it should be obvious to any rhetoritician that any position, accepted blindly, can be warped to bad ends given certain specific conditions. There are obviously times when peace is NOT the answer, in fact, peace will allow great evil to triumph. For example, you village is surrounded by enemy hordes, who are incapable of showing mercy or being effected by rational debate (for example, a mass of undead skeletons). Working towards "peace" in this case might in fact result in more dead. Where on the other hand, if the entire village works together to be an effective fighting force, they may defeat the attackers and (some) will survive.

All perfectly obvious, of cousre. This is but one of many reasons that I eshew, as it were, idealistic posturing. They simply don't make sense given the complexities of the real world. But, to each their own...

And, ye GAWDS! You can becha bottom dolla I'd dance with your sister! Any day of the week, even in her (I hope!) native garb -- as far as the natives are garbed, mind you.

As for my nanny...oh I definately had a nanny, at least for a while, before the bad times. But, that's not really important...

But, if anyone takes offense to any of this [points to all at the table] please I beg of you your kind forgiveness. You must know my tongue often wags by itself; the togue wags and the mind follows its lead; it's not always the other way around."

Vanitri chuckles as he hears and watches Sunny talk, somewhat supprised that he hasn't noticed that his sword is slipping.
