Vanitri looks to Lasair "Not all goblins are savage. In fact, the Mountain Goblins are fairly enlightened. There's a few that have passed though my caravan, and even one I call family."

Well Mr.Vanitri perhaps we should continue this vein of discussion later, Till then we can have a drink and find something else to talk about.
"No need to call me Mr, just plain Vanitri is fine." Vanitri smiles "A drink to good company then," Vanitri raises his glass to both Lasair, Rosalynn, and Elise "And to fine women to share a drink with."

"Really? Then I bet the mountain goblins just listened more to the wisdom of their women. I'd love to meet those goblins and see if they had any ideas on how to bring the other sorts of goblins out of their depraved state!" Lasair says excitedly, as she raises her glass in unison with Vanitri.

The return of Michael

Metal clatters as the back door opens and Michael comes in. He edges around the room, trailing straw from his boot.
When he gets to the bar, he sits down and buries his head in his hands. Joe brings a double of some amber spirit, which he drinks down, then asks for another.

{sunny attempts to quash a smile]

*Lasair's eyes blaze with an angry green fire.*

"Are you saying that I am soft--that my people are soft? How dare you suggest that, you who have lived in this 'comfortable' land all your life."

"Your naive defamation of peace in an attempt to make an attempt to incite destructive anarachy seem like a noble cause...that, and not a love for peace as you suggest, is what comes from the fallow imagination of a person from comfortable surroundings. A wistful yearning for an idyllic dream of peace, however, comes readily to those who have never seen peace or comfort, and who yearn every night with all their hearts that some day, if they work away with all their power to pay off the ancient debt of their ancestors' sins, that perhaps their children will be able to live in peace."

"Ah Lasair -- I can always count on you... already I've figured out that much!"

[Sunny laughs, not at all offended by Lasair's comments.]

"What you don't know about me could fill volumes, of course. How do you know where I came from, or what I experienced? What do you know of my past, if it was full of luxury or a fight against utter poverty?

As for my motivations for giving voice to such a statement...those are equally opaque. Perhaps I mean what I say. Perhaps I mean the opposite. Perhaps I said what I said only to incite some return comment. Perhaps I said what I said in order to engender precisely such a response from you, Lasair.

In any case -- I'm amused.

But please -- as a warning for the future, don't take me too seriously, Lasair I'm not like you at all in that regard: I don't view myself as special, I don't think anything I have to say is profound, and I'm perfectly content being the butt of a joke now and then. As long as the joke is a good one, that is."

[Sunny giggles somewhat, addressing Lasair as well as the others around their table.]

Giving an odd look to Sunny You could have apologized sir, whether you meant insult or not.

Elise looks around, and in a quiet voice asks Who's that? referring to the new comer at the bar

"Greetings Michael! I apologise again for my earlier actions that have dishonoured you. I have much zij towards you now...can you think of any way that you would like me to repay you?"

"Even the people from your lands who live in utter penury still live a life of comfort compared to what I am used," Lasair says, somewhat mollified, "And Elise is right: You could still apologise, particularly if you hope a return apology from me, as I currently do not have any zij to you at all. Besides, the response you got from me was tame and calm compare to that you would find from any of my sisters...if you ever do encounter Meliana, then you must know that despite her great beauty and ample curves, her temper is quick compared to me, and she would ask you to dance if you ever dared call her soft. And anyway, if your parents could afford this nanny person you spoke of, assuming you did not just invent her as another joke, then that indicates at least a certain level of wealth--and what I say still holds: It is not those who yearn for peace who must have lived a life of comfort and peace but rather those who scoff at peace because they take it for granted. I am no rules-crazy stick-in-the-mud, but I also know that inciting anarchy in the name of the oppressed is an act that will cause more woe than weal."

Why would she ask him to dance?
