After laughing at Fury's comment, and making his own about how the cream apparently doesn't always "Stay at the top", Falkner moves over to Fury and the newcomer.

He gives the barkeep a "one-eyebrow-raised" look at his obvious indignation at having to pay out the due change, before clapping Fury on the back saying

"Good man."

Falkner then turns to the girl, giving her the once over and gently says

"You look like you're new to town, why don't you come sit with us and we'll fill you in on the City of Glass? I expect between Fury here and I, we can answer any questions you might have."

Kalinn quirks a blue-silver eyebrow at the elven lass and withdraws her hand after a long moment. She tilts her head down the bar at Fury. "That looks like it could turn interesting." She turns her attention to the minor disturbance, sparing part of her attention for the pasty pig sharpening his sword. Best keep an eye on that one, he looks like trouble brewing.

Vega eyes the peasants as they move in like wolves on a wide eyed fawn, but holds himself in check. They will likely behave well enough while eyes are on them, even peasants have that much decorum.

Finally satisfied with Capitus' edge - as a hair is sheered in two by the beautiful falchion's edge having been dropped from mere inches above it - he lovingly resheathes the blade. Then with a smooth motion he pulls free another gorgeous falchion and begins polishing and honing it in turn.

It took Maia a moment to realize that her transaction is the source of so much tumult. With visible effort she stood back up and shuffled back to the counter, slightly bent over as if shouldering a weight.

"I'm very sorry if I did this wrong. You shouldn't blame him." At Fury's insistence she swept the coins into the pouch tied to the rope belt around her waist, then gave the bartender an apologetic smile.

Falkner's invitation gets her attention, and the gratitude on her face seems like it could light the common room up like a lantern.

"I am new, yes...I guess it's pretty obvious." With that she takes another drink from her mug and closes her eyes in a brief moment of rapture. "Are you sure I wasn't supposed to give him gold?" she asks. "This isn't just water. It has other minerals in it as well. It must have been very difficult to get."

Abruptly she holds out a smooth, almost porcelain hand across the table where either Fury or Falkner would find it easy to take hold of.

"I am Maia. It's very good to meet you both. I do have a lot of questions, but many of them I hope to answer simply by experiencing them. Still, I'm sure you can help me with some basics. What are your names, and what is this about a city of glass? I think I'd remember seeing something as amazing as that...though it would be very fragile. Has it already broken?"

Her face is completely guileless, her tone utterly forthright. If she's feigning ignorance, or veiling mockery, her skill in doing so must be nigh-legendary.

Seeing the group around the barkeep occupied, Ausk decides to query the female barbarian and her elven companion as to activities and potential jobs in the area. As he approaches, several startling facts come to light. First, despite having the bearing of a capable and successful warrior, he uses his right leg as little as possible. This is even more apparent given that he looks significantly more orcish than normal. The other startling fact is that the voice that speaks out of this grizzled body is clear, and even pleasant.

"Good evening, ladies. Forgive me for bothering you, but do either of you perchance know where I and my flail could find some gainful employment?" (he has a heavy flail resting on his back that is clearly well used)

Coreuth takes note of the loud men, especially, the giant of the man carrying many weapons on his person. "That man...he has all those weapons. He could open up an armory with all those swords and stuff. Why do you think he carries so many with him?" The elf doesn't wait to hear what the aasimar thinks, hopping off the barstool and moving to sit next to the tall man.

Coreuth taps Raynucio's shoulder. "Hello!" she says, smiling. "My friend, over there, and I were over there watching you play with your big weapon and we wondering why you need so many big weapons to play with."

Raynucio's nose wrinkles in distaste, but he answers his voice cold and unfriendly,

"I am a killer, and I take my profession seriously a serious professional always cares for the tools of his trade. I require so many because I always want the right tool for the job in hand. A blade to cut, a bludgeon to tenderize. Besides I am a student of Venzite Scabbard Fighting, so multiple blades are part of my stock and trade."

Reaching across the table to shake the proffered hand, Falkner introduces himself to the girl.

"My name is Amadeus Falkner, Falkner for short. My friend here is Fury. As for your second question, a gold piece is worth far more than whatever minerals might be in that cup of water. At least that is true here, if not where you come from."

Falkner pauses a moment before continuing

"And the City of Glass is called so because of the Cathedral of Glass in Incudine, where i was raised. Its a magnificent structure made completely of glass-steel. It's quite a sight to behold really. My favorite days in the guard were patrolling the Bendetto Piazza where its located. You really should try and see it sometime."

Falkner turns to Fury, "That about sum it up?"

[sblock=OOC] Maia almost has a River Tam like quirkiness in her innocence, which is the source of endless mirth on my end. Great Characterization! [/sblock]
