Tavern Thread: The Hanged Man

"Yes... yes. You are quite right, I have been wasting time. Wasting time, yours and... well, I suppose there is no more time to waste." He pauses to consider (or possibly to muster the intestinal fortitude to speak) his next statement, "It is true, I am in need of skilled adventurers to find and recover something that was stolen from me..."

Morvannon stands and quietly approaches the man. "Would your problem be magical in nature? I have some experience in such matters."

Magnus glances quickly left and right and then, taking advantage of the uptake in commotion, leans in closer to the study the fascinating ring a little closer while Reggie is distracted.

[sblock=Magnus]It dawns on you suddenly... it is royal signet ring! You don't have the sort of background to recognize the heraldry of the crest, but you do know that several royals have commisioned rings from your master with healing, protective and/or tracking properties. This ring is his work of that you are certain...[/sblock]
"Magical in nature... magical you ask? No. No? No... well, maybe. I know not the true nature," he finally decides, "just that someone has something of mine, which I must get back."

"I see." The half-elf studies Reggie for a couple seconds, idly rubbing his beard. "Sir, it would help to know what, exactly, has gone missing."

Apparently not feeling very insightful at the moment. Must be the ale.[/sblock]

[sblock=Morvannon]You can tell he isn't being completely upfront... but then again, that doesn't seem entirely unusual given the circumstances.[/sblock]
"I see... yes, I see. Well... um, well... it is a ring, Good Sir."

Tracing the whorls in the grain of the tabletop, Magnus began to emit that wheezing cackle again.

Hehehe...one ring comes looking for another...one ring, two ring...Her hand, Her will...yes...

Glittering grey eyes swiveled up in their sockets locking on Reggie once more.

Did dead master Dorian make the other as well? Sibling rings seperated?

You doddering fool cant you just speak plainly?! You want help yes, now what would you have us do? Tell me whence your stolen property has gone so that I can promptly blast to ash whoever it is that has stolen it and return to my own business.

Vashik slams his mug of ale on the counter to emphasize his point, and glares with his one baleful eye.

Reggie collects himself with an effort, and stands (perhaps a bit theatrically) placing his palms down on the tabletop. "The grizzled sage is correct..." he begins (he seems much more confident addressing the group, than he does conversing). "It is true that we must get on with this business... however, an assassination is not what I require of you. I am employing you to find a woman, which should be a relatively simple task for a group with skills as varied as yours."

He turns to face the innkeeper, "My Good Man, I believe I will take you up on your offer of a room in the back. If you could have it prepared for us, we will be along shortly..."

[sblock=OOC]Sorry for the stalling, I've been trying to see if we can get a well-balanced group together. I'm looking to go with about 5 characters, although I might be able to stretch to 6 if needed (Plus, if y'all don't feel that we have the makings of a good group yet, then we can stall a little longer).

I'll be starting a "Back Room" thread tomorrow, and we can move this over there to really get started.[/sblock]
