Tell Me About GENCON...

My suggestion: Budget high.

I ran into a lot of people last year that were really concerned about saving money (which is understandable), but they ended up spending a lot of the Con counting their pennies and that's no fun at all. They were unable to really enjoy the experience of going out to eat with people they met because they spent their evenings microwaving in their rooms...

If you don't eat *at* the convention center, you end up saving quite a bit of money. Steak and Shake has pretty good prices (and is open 24 hours... and is DELICIOUS). The Old Spaghetti Factory runs about $10/meal and includes dessert/drinks. It's easy to get to the mall - and the mall has a food court which is pretty cheap.

I just like going out to eat, though. It's part of the Indy experience, so far as I'm concerned. :)

The dealers hall is a BLAST - I'm a woman that loves to shop... and I love to shop even more if it's for nerdy stuff... it's fun to spend. So, start saving now and have a fat load of dough to drop on all the cool stuff - without having to worry about where you'll get your next meal (the Hampton - about 2 blocks away from the center has good breakfast, though).

Also - cash and/or traveler's checks are most excellent in the dealer's hall.

Ohh!! I'm so excited to see all of you this year!!! :D :D :D

But not, from Embassy Suites, you can walk through the Hyatt via skywalk/hallway and reach the con now, according to the map.
So is the Embassy Suites connected via skywalk? I'm still not exactly clear on that...

Yes, just not in a straight line. You'd start in Embassy, take a skywalk to the Hyatt, walk through the Hyatt, then into another skyway and right into to Con. :)

The specific hotel that I am interested in is the one that is connected via sky walk to the convention center... and it spits you out at the stairs that are right above the doors to the dealers hall - as you walk down them there are food stands/little food cour area to your right...

Some of the larger seminars were in this hotel - the celebrity panel was there, for sure...

This may make no sense... but, if someone understands it, fill me in on which hotel that is...
