I think making Uraq a Persian sort of place is great. I'm putting all the desert-based DCC modules there, with the excuse that empires have risen and fallen, risen and fallen there, so I can have ancient Egyptian, ancient Babylonian and medieval Persian adventures.

And yeah, with a name change, the ninja class can certainly become something else easily. I didn't know how much Asian flavor your player wanted.

In the Complete Adventurer, there's also the Ghost-Faced Killer PrC, which makes the ninja even more mystical and scary, and it's a great choice for an even more mystical (but non-spellcasting) assassin type.

I think spectral skirmisher from PHBII is a great feat for a ninja since a great deal of your damage comes from your invisible attacks.

And I don't get why so many people feel that sneak attack is better than sudden strike. Other than round one, you mainly get SA from flanking...which means your in melee with the big bad. A ninja can stay 30 feet away, go invisible and get a full round of pain...and stay nice and safe from bad guys.

I'd suggest that you and the player look at the Scout class, which is also in the Complete Adventurer. It's sort of a cross between a rogue and a ranger, with some great options for hit-and-run tactics. .

I say forget the scout and look at the wilderness rogue. Then again, I dislike the scout's skirmish ability :p

Yeah, I get that about not knowing how much Asian flavor. Overall, however, the PC is likely to be the only one of the class in the game (Until someone comes looking for her) so the stranger in a strange land feel is fine. Hmm...Ghost-Faced Killer. Can you think of any reason it would have to be Evil?

Just for flavor. You could say she's a member of the evil clan without being evil, I think.

The "real ultimate power" take on ninjas is pretty antithetical to her typical characters.

Be careful what you say. Ninjas have like crazy hearing and if you make them mad, this crazy guitar will start wailing and some ninjas will fly out of nowhere and totally flip out and then you'll be sorry.

If there's one thing I love, it's talking about ninajs because they make me pumped and are so cool; and by cool, I mean totally sweet.

So, what experiances have you w/ the ninja? Feats, skills, tactics, items, etc. are all welcome.
I think your best option is to Ask a Ninja . (He'll probably flip out and kill you, but maybe he'll give you some answers first.)

So you wanna know about ninjas, huh?

Facts:

1. Ninjas are mammals.
2. Ninjas fight ALL the time.
3. The purpose of the ninja is to flip out and kill people.

Ninjas are awesome because they have real ultimate power, of course.

(I see I wasn't the first to post that link -- too slow on the draw...)

You forgot
4. ninjas can only be killed by other ninjas... or Chuck Norris!
