Tell me about Savage Worlds

Well to start out I'll point out that I am also a big fan of Savage Worlds. I'm even set up to run a game of Savage City Ransom (think River City Ransom) this Saturday at the Albany Gameday.

Hmm... what can I say that the posters above me haven't already mentioned? I mean all the best points have been hit so far:

- Can't beat the price!
- It'll handle dang near any genre/setting.
- The rules are easy to learn and even tinker with. They are Fast, Furious and Fun!
- There are plenty of things for all characters to do and feel like they are contributing.
- Did anyone mention it only costs a Hamilton?!

Thanks for the replies, guys. I bought the Explorer's Edition from Amazon, read through it, and it sounds awesome! I'm going to plan either a Western or pirate-themed game soon, just not sure which.

Why not both :P If this was say set in a fantastical-real world. I could so see a bunch of pirates raiding the US coastline/rivers during the aftermath of the Civil War.

Their pistols could be revolvers. Their ship a ironclad. Their tricorns, cowboy and pork-pie hats. Their rowboats to an island would be a train to the Mid-West. Their secret gold burial site would be a bunch of stolen gold bars left in a out-of-the-way bank in the Mid-West.

It would be quite cool :D

And if you use the Deadlands setting it is almost already in there for you (gotta love the Maze Pirates  )

Congrads on purchasing Explorers Edition, it's a no lose deal at the price. I highly recommend Deadlands, and the Great Maze therein will indeed give you pirates and cowboys :). For fantasy pirates you could take a look at Sundered Skies, which has a nice dark post apocolyptic edge to it as well. I have to second the opinion that Solomon Kane is one of the best and most complete products ever and it gets a hearty recommendation from me, though he is my favourite Howard character so allow for bias.
