TerpCon Fall 2006 (11/18/06) in College Park (Metaphorical Phoenix)

Thanks for posting the game on Warhorn. Just a minor correction. Players are not expected to bring their own characters. Characters will be generated at the gaming table.

That might not be the best of ideas. TerpCon has limited time in the slots. If you really want to do it, please be aware that you'll lose about 1/4 of the time in the slot (assuming that people know what they're doing). If you still want to do that, go for it.

Have you managed to play (or run) a Xen'drik game in the area before? We had a fairly active group doing Mark of Heroes last year up until the TerpCon Spring 2006 when I kind of swore the campaign off (long story, but the mods I played at Winter Fantasy still haven't been reported correctly). Most of the people that played in that group have either moved away or moved on, though. Depending on how scheduling works out (I'm still in talks with KenzerCo about doing a Hackmaster demo) I'd definitly like to hit your game up once player signups are active.

I ran Principal of the Matter (BWC1) this weekend for the first time, and it went off quite well IMO - ran it as a home game with my local group for RPGA credit. Everyone had a good time and it'll only improve the more times I run it.

I'm new to RPGA games, but I've been a DM since my middle school years in the mid 80's (1e, 2e, 3.0, 3.5). If you can work out the scheduling, it would be great to have you as a player at Terpcon. I'm also running a DM's Mark for Blackwheel in the 2nd slot at Terpcon, so that's another option.

Wow. Not one but two spycraft sessions showed up.

Unfortunately, neither are in my preferred time slot (with 1 1/2 drive to College Park, it's a bit rough for me to make the first or last slot.) :(

In either case, I imagine with two Spycraft games in play, a third won't be needed, so I won't plan on running one.

Ian - have you run SC 2.0 in a con environment before? I think Andrew is right. Last two times I ran, I found that gearing up alone was a time eating monster. I can't imagine making characters unless everyone is experienced with the system. Perhaps you want to provide pregens (or allow the living spycraft iconics) if the player is new to the system?

Just to make sure everyone's on the same page, Iain is planning on running AD&D 1st ED and not Spycraft 2.0 (Iain != Ian from Warhorn), and Dan was the one posting that character creation at the table isn't a good idea.

I would suggest having pregens available at the very least, for those people who may not be as versed in AD&D character creation. Character creation tends to be the number one time consuming portion of most systems for new players. Capping the amount of time you're willing to spend on character creation ahead of time and sticking to it (if you're not done by X you're playing a pregen) and stocking to it might save you a big headache.

That said, Spycraft 2.0 is one of the most time-consuming systems I know for both GM, and player prep (second only to Hackmaster). It definitly runs a lot smoother once you get over the initial prep "hump" and get used to the system. There are still a lot of little details I'm still working out, though. I'm planning on using the 2.0 iconics at my game for players without an existing Living Spycraft character.

Yep... I jumped to that conclusion.

Thanks for the clarification... no worries, then!

Players will be able to sign up for games starting on October 18th. Either Carla (the new President), Amanda (the new President of Vices), Andrew Beard, or I will post more at a later date. And yes, I will post a new "Idiot's Guide".

It is now the 18th. How does one sign up? Should I be seeing something show up on my Warhorn profile?

I apologize. It completely skipped my mind yesterday. Players are now cleared for sign-ups on Warhorn.

I tried signing up this morning, 19 October, after I received a message yesterday from warhorn that signup was ready. I was unable to signup. BTW, there are some games that have disappeared from the listings. Wasn't there a savage worlds game and some other Xendrik Expeditions? Is that for real or am I getting an old cached page or something?

Likewise. Got the "you are cleared to sign up" email, but I go to sign up and it says:
