D&D 5E Test of High Level 5E: Design 4 or 5 lvl 13 PCs for 6 to 8 encounter adventuring day

From a meta (rest) perspective you can assume 6-8 encounters and you have (now) 4 hours and 45 minutes of time to complete your quest. So at this stage, anywhere up to 4 short rests. Things may happen that reduce that time however. Myrkyn has already indicated that Dragothas lair is 'a few hours' away from White Plume Mountain.

Within that paradigm, you're free to rest whenever.

From a narrativist and game perspective, time limits like this can create a fun overarching meta-challenge. There is also a sense of urgency that drives the story forward.

Exactly a few hours lets call it 1hour 30 running to the mounting with no complications that leaves us 3hours 15 say 1hour exploration gives us 2 15 allocate 1 rest and 1 emergency hour. All numbers pulled out my ass ofc.

As for ready I am on way to work for a half day(woo) but I'm good to go

Loaded crossbow in hands I take it?

Magical bolt, or normal one?

Holding in hands:

Dwarf: Shield. Holy symbol on shield and strapped to right gauntlet that is weapon hand.

Jubali: Sprite is away right now. Too easy to kill if ambushed at site. She doesn't have anything in her hand. Her arcane focus is a ring and her instruments.

Dwarf has shield (with divine focus emblazoned) on one hand and the other free. Cool.

The rules for an arcane focus are:

'An arcane focus is a special item— an orb, a crystal, a rod, a specially constructed staff, a wand-like length of wood, or some similar item— designed to channel the power of arcane spells. A sorcerer, warlock, or wizard can use such an item as a spellcasting focus'

Sounds to me like they're all something you have to hold/ put away (wand, orb, staff, rod, crystal or 'similar item') rather than simply wear (like a necklace or a ring). I'm happy for it to be fluffed as a ring, but it 'occupies' the hand, and would need to be put away/ manipulated with your free object interaction/ use an object action (with some kind of fluff justification attached) if you want to use the hand for something else.

AFB, but where does the Sprite go when summoned but not in use?

Starting normal methinks. Also was with an illusion of a me conjured up(assuming I'm.small enough afb)

What ability are you using to spam an illision of yourself?

And I wonder if the illusion gets teleported with you, or if the teleportation breaks the spell (by hurling you out of range)? I'll have a read of the spell youre using to create it and get back to you.

She'll use a rod. It's in her belt. She has it. She'll manipulate as needed.

Sprite is in a pocket dimension. It is summoned by use of the find familiar spell. If not dead, can be temporarily dismissed or summoned to an unoccupied space within 30 feet as an action.

OOC: Sounds like the first team got hold of Blackrazor and tried to put it into a Bag of Holding, not knowing that it was itself a rift, and it all went pear-shaped. Maybe the problem is that the rift is now the size of a mountain and growing? Myrkyn must have had some basis for calculating the four-hour limit so precisely so he must have some knowledge of the dynamics. But he obviously doesn't want to tell us.

Myrkyn is going to set up a rival expedition to ours, which is fair enough - I think it was my suggestion anyway. If this was a straight dungeon crawl, I'd suggest being sneaky, letting the other lot get a head start, let them soften up the opposition and gather up the loot, then ambush them on the way out when they are down on resources and grab their loot and take the credit for the quest. Not sure that would work this time, but it's worth a thought. Bedrock wouldn't like it, though.

Edward spends a 5th level slot each time we use the teleport device. He has two level-5 slots and he could recover one in a short rest, if we get the chance. I'm going to plan not to use that second slot for anything else, at least until we know more of the situation. If we need Contact Other Plane for instance, he will do it as a Ritual. For other divinations, he has Clairvoyance prepared, and he has three 3rd level slots for casting it. So it's slot management time :)

So, unless Dom is going to buff us up before we teleport, I'm ready to go.

n.b. if we do meet a dracolich, keeping within 10ft of Bedrock will ensure you are inside his aura and you can't be Frightened. IC, he might shout "To Me!" meaning: get inside my aura.

Silent image granted by mistyvisions I believe its a 3ft cube Tom is shorter than that and no way in hell is he 3ft wide. As for it porting guess that's a ruling zone

In hands: Bedrock has his longsword and spellguard shield equipped, holy symbol is on the shield. Edward has staff of the war mage in hand, other hand free, wand (magic focus) inside his robe.
