Devlin Magruder, human rogue 3

Seeing the goblinoid turn to Luthiel, Devlin motions for the elf to begin asking questions. He continues to stand near the unconscious creature, cleaning his fingernails with his dagger.

Luthiel Faradar Elven Rogue1

"Do not worry, they no kill you- if you help us. We need to know why you are here." Luthiel speaks slowly and clearly, and keeps his body language non-threatening. He also mentions to Jasper that he may want to go look at the stuff that was in the tents- though he'll try to keep the goblinoid from hearing that bit.
For Jasper[sblock]He's thinking specifically of the leather bound book that he found earlier and forgot to mention to you[/sblock]

Garrit Kelspire, Paladin 1 of Hyrag

Garrit, meanwhile, patrols the area while this is going on, but keeps an eye on the interrogators just to make sure things don't get out of control.

"Why I... here? Here is... place... house... home! Yes, here is home, I here... all time. We here all time. This place... special... home. Yes? I go home now, yes?" The pitiful little creature's black eyes quiver with fear.

Motioning for the others to take up position behind him and the goblinoid, Luthiel drapes an arm around it (making sure first that all his weapons are out of its reach) and begins wandering down the path to the clearing, drawing the creature with him. As they walk, he asks "You say this is your home, eh? Tell me more. How long have you lived here?" Luthiel omits any mention of the goblinoid's previous allies or friends.

"Here live all time. No time... not live here... see? Home, special home place of I. We..." here the goblin breaks into its natural language for a few seconds. Suddenly it stops and seems to think very hard. "We... be own? be his? Master...! Yes, master here, master give we good things, give we food, give we shinies! Shinies good, good here, special home place safe, we keep, and master give we food and shinies for keep special home place safe, see? See?" The little black goblin looks expectantly into Luthiel's eyes.

Jasper Goodheart, Halfling Wiz 1

Jasper runs to the tents and picks up the leather bound book and parchment, and walks very calmly back to the interrogation. Walking up and looking straight into the goblin's eyes, trying to notice any response to the book, Jasper drops the book between Luthiel and the goblin, and stands back, awaiting to hear the answer to the questions. He then pulls out the parchment and begins trying to decipher some of the writing on the paper. Jasper remains perfectly quiet throughout the entire interrogation.

As far as Luthiel can tell, the goblin is being truthful.

When Jasper sets the book down in front of the goblin, its eyes glance first at the book, then up to Jasper, then back at Luthiel. Its demeanor changes not at all.

"Garrit, would you mind watching over our... friend for a moment?" asks Luthiel. When Garrit has taken control of the goblin, Luthiel draws Devlin and Malen aside and says "You know, it certainly sounds as though all is not as it first appeared. I think we need to check out what's going on in the tower. We need to decide what to do with that creature, though, because Garrit is obviously not going to let us take the easy way out. Do you guys agree with all that?"
