To the dude whoever wrote that class in the Complete Adventurer book: Thanks. Finally I have a class to play the char I tried to realise the last 25 years. Thank you. Love it. Only some missing prerequisites:
Race: wildelf and player: Darklone.

THANKS!!!

The Fochlucan Lyrist is a cool class, for sure. It is as close as you can come to having a 1E Bard in 3.X. It seems a bit weak to me, but I've not yet had the chance to use one in actual gameplay.

Well. The class needs evasion and you have to be level 10 to fulfill the skill prerequisites. You need druid and bard levels. At least 2 rogue levels. Since most of the class abilities stack rather with the bard than the druid levels, a rog2/drd1/brd7 build looks good... but the druid class seems to be stronger than the bard class... so more druid levels might be interesting. Yet, the strong extra abilities of the druid class like wild shape don't get better...

I'm looking forward to try a Scout5/Brd4/Drd1 combination :D

At least the BAB won't be bad.

There is a certain brilliance to it... I never thought I would look at a full BAB, two good save, two caster level progression, special ability granting, good skill point class and say... "Hm, kind of underpowered."

You have seen the guide, right? :)

What of it? That's nothing compared to a 25 million d6 chunk of lead, demiurgic kobolds, elastic druids who threaten every square within 20', or 18th level characters who can use miracle as a spell-like ability. :)

But seriously, it takes a lot of work to get blood from that stone. Even the "degenerate" build described therein is nothing I would get too excited about.

I really really like this class, and have been looking for a chance to play it since I got CAdv. Now I have, and it rocks.

Though (like all things) it's possible to make it really really broken.

I simply like the style. Druid spells, bard spells, skillpoints, high BAB... that's an average Jack of all Trades archer to me. Exactly what I like.

I would love to be able to enter the class earlier though. :D

Do I get this right, Inspire Courage increases with Fochlucan Lyrist levels?

Yes, inspire courage increases with the FL levels.
I have one, coming from a bard from 1st edition.
fighter2/rogue2/bard2/druid5/FL7, waiting to play in a game starting 2007.
It's not the ultimate build with 2lvl of fighter but I was f9/rge10/bard12 in 1st edition.
It gives me 2 feats, armor and martial weapon proficiency, caster level 9 for bard and 12 for druid.
