That Balor mini is gorgeous! What's your favourite?

Not that diaglo needs any help defending himself, but, really, he has a right to criticize if he so chooses. If his posts continually annoy you, put him on your ignore list.

I think the minis are cool, but diaglo's entitled to think they're crap if he wants to...

*shrug*
Heh. Read up to see why I would ignore him if it would help. Yes, he has a right to his opinion, but where is the line drawn? If I proclaimed loudly that ENWorld sucked in practically every single post I ever made, wouldn't it annoy people? Wouldn't they ask "Well, why are you even posting here?" Same principle.

It's always annoying (to me) when people dislike what I like - I mean, how can they be so crazy?! :D

But, with diaglo, I see someone who is as passionate about gaming as I am (even if it is for an older version of my favorite game), so I really can't begrudge him his opinions.

(And apologies to all for the hijack...)

Yes, I don't want to hijack this thread anymore, because it's a good one with an interesting topic. Let's just drop it. Sorry all; carry on.

I think it's too late...once you hijack more than twice it's sailing the seas of Off Topic. :)

On Topic, I'm in love with the kobold miner...so small, so understated, so...koboldie. :)

I'm a big fan of the Aspect of Orcus, myself.

I also really like the beholder, but for other, non-game-related reasons. And the troll slashers I have just constantly beg to be brought out and placed on the battle map. :)

Interesting, the beholder is one of my least liked of the bigger D&D monsters they have put out.

Given your avatar that is not surprising at all... ;)

I think the Underdark figures are overall nicer looking than previous sets. The Death Slaad is just neat, and Iron Golem looks cool too, but even the kobold miner has some nice detail and looks.

Seriously though, a skeletal equiceph? What were they thinking!

The wolf and spider fig's were nicely done, but I'd rather have had more D&D oriented mini's, they're just too "normal" for my tastes.

The Skeletal Equiceph was the 'dark horse' of this set for me. I hadn't known about it before hand and wasn't impresses with pictures that i saw later. When I finally got one I was amazed at the sculpt quality and paint job. And excellent large skeletal figure if there ever was one.

The wolf & spider miniatures were icingon the cake and, to me, are very D&D oriented. I don;t like using multi coloured animals from Toys R Us.
The Beholder is still my favorite, even though the multiple pieces make it a little less nicely made than the Iron Golem.

I have 3 Beholders currently and while I love those guys each one of them has some imperfections in the joins between pieces. That's about the only thing that keeps it from being my favourite.

I have 5 Troll Slashers and would love about 3 more. Those guys are just too cool. Some of mine need their hair touched up a bit (too much green not enough black) but they are the iconic Troll to me.

Ya know, I think the Timber Wolf and the Dire Bear are both good, solid figs, too.

Having held one in hand, I can say that these look great! I want a dozen! :)
Well, Ebay seems to agree with me, they're not even $1! :-p

Thats the real problem with the mini's, the one's I don't want aren't worth shipping. Hence why I give them to my nephew. He doesn't care. :)

The detail is good, but it's stands too flat for my tastes. If they had given it a bit more 3-D look, it would probably look good. The Iron Golem is a good example of the 3D look.

Yeah, the imperfections are pretty bad, if the figure wasn't so cool to me, I'd probably hate it. Hopefully the Chuul I've ordered looks better. Whats worse is looking at the Beholder spinning pic on the gallery at Wotc's site, where it's all nice and seamless.

So yeah, to those above, the pictures are all (most likely) pre-molds that have no bearing on the actual finished product. :)

I can find nearly any uncommon large for less than $1. :) A '3-D' look would probably have pushed it into rare status (like the Iron Golem) with a more complicated mold and assembly.

I give lots of these things to my co-workers' kids. They love 'em (and the Heroclik I got extras of too).
