That was close

On her way home from work tonight, my wife took a quick stop to pick up something we were having framed at a local craft store. As she was leaving, driving along the road that runs through the middle of the shopping center parking lot, some woman drove her car into the side of my wife's sedan. Hard. Stove in the front passenger-side door.

If the other driver had been coming from the other side, my wife would be in the hospital, or worse. As it is, she seems to have gotten out of the encounter without a (physical) scratch.

That... was too close for comfort.

Damn... it's a good thing no one was in the passenger side.

On the bright side, at least at lady's insurance will buy you a new car or at least get it repaired.

Yes. I have the chance to take this as either the Universe being really mean to us (for the car trouble), or really nice to us (for her not being hurt). I'm taking the latter view. I vastly prefer making many phone calls to insurance agents and such to sitting by a hospital bed.

That car has been pretty darned good to her for the past six years. I'm hoping it isn't totalled, so she can ride gain.

OTOH, perhaps if the car is totaled, you'll be able to get a new/newer car that will be just as good to her...so that "dear Concorde's sacrifice will not be in vain."

Ouch.

Glad to hear everyone is alright.

I've been there. Its not comforting at the time but you have the right idea. Everyone is fine. Everything will remain fine.

In all seriousness, I'm glad to hear things are working out okay. My brother was once in an accident with his friends. The car they were in was a hunk of junk and ended up totaled but they were all fine aside from a few bumps. That freaked me out at the time.
