21st May 2024 is the official release date!
Update--WotC has taken down the promo image and replaced it with one without a release date. See more here.
they said we should expect more news at future cons, so maybe they are going back to going to cons....Earlier than expected and I am shocked/impressed that they're announcing all of this stuff at PAX, rather than at a WotC-only event.
Based on prior UA to print date scenarios, they have to have this at the printers by March-ish at the latest. Keep in mind they are printing these in the USA, so they don't have to wrangle with shipping or customs. So that means they have to be done by what the 30th?
Nope. Hoard of the Dragon Queen came out 8/19/2024, same time as the PHB.The same day as the Vecna Adventure? I'll bet you that's an error.
About 6 weeks, given what just happened with the Deck of Many things....Based on prior UA to print date scenarios, they have to have this at the printers by March-ish at the latest. Keep in mind they are printing these in the USA, so they don't have to wrangle with shipping or customs.
I'm just interested in what went into the strategic decision. I imagine their self-produced events weren't cheap and going to PAX is cheaper, but there's also a question of reach from each event. I suspect this will be part of a more comprehensive change in their PR strategy going forward.they said we should expect more news at future cons, so maybe they are going back to going to cons....
The 5E books do it for me, but this certainly looks awesome. They have a much bigger art budget this go around. If thats going to be the style of the art for the 2024 D&D books moving forward its imo the best looking since 2E. 3.x, 4E and 5E just didnt do much for me.
Yeah, I think the PHB could come out that day. But not the DMG and MM too, right?Nope. Hoard of the Dragon Queen came out 8/19/2024, same time as the PHB.
