D&D (2024) The 2024 Core D&D Rulebooks Are Coming In May

21st May 2024 is the official release date!

People watching, give me the most important news: Is there going to be a special 2024 cover treatment for the anniversary, either on all the core books or for a special edition?

One thing they said about the MM that gave me hope....they are going to give every monster something unique, something that is theirs. Now, it won't be insane, this is WotC, but if this means monsters aren't just interchangeable statblocks with different fluff, I'm excited!

Yes, that's a bit of an exaggeration about current monsters, but not as much a one as I'd like it to be.

I like the way things are going, so the sooner the better.

There seems to be alot of dotting i's and crossing t's to do before may.

If thats going to be the style of the art for the 2024 D&D books moving forward its imo the best looking since 2E. 3.x, 4E and 5E just didnt do much for me.

2E art is absolutely amazing. Later eds are good but lacked a certain… spark/tone.

Don't get me wrong there was some good art in the editions after 2E but they had more of a cartoonish (for lack of a better term) aesthetic to it in my opinion. The new images look a lot grittier.

Assuming, the 2024 Players Handbook includes ALL of the rules necessary to play a complete game of D&D.

People can buy the PH alone and start playing a game of D&D. Players will be familiar with all of the rules that necessary to be a DM, and hopefully many players will start DMing as well.

Meanwhile, official adventures and DnDBeyond can make gaming easier.

The Monster Manual and DM Guide can arrive whenever they are ready and enrich the game.

I agree. More Warcraft/Anime influence. Which is fine. Worlds moved on from Conan and into Marvels Thor.
