The news that arrives from the Correspondents shock Krysophrenos to the bone. He was going to Tell the Encyclopaedists their exile was finished, that the Counterspell was found, that they were free again, instead he had to tell them to remain in the strictest isolation, because a Plague had been released on their beloved world, and that the only cure that seemed possible was the total eradication of magic.
"There has to be an alternative" he thought as he flew high in the night, the moon rays shining upon his golden scales.
"The humans can survive, but what will happen to the other races? What about the Elves, the Dragons, the Faeries? What about the Sharn?"
He landed in a forest, continuing to force his old mindon the question, then a thought came to his mind, observing the night life in the woods.
"We have to change. We have to evolve to prevent extinction. If we could create a new kind of magic, an untainted energy to rely upon, we could survive."
Immediately he took fly again returning to his lair and started to write letters to the people he knew he could trust.
"Dear friends, this plague is threatening the very survival of our kind. there is maybe an alternative though it will probably lie on a road of suffering and difficulties. I think the solution consist in two words: Exile and Evolution. Exile because the magical energies that give us life are being tainted, and we remain on Toril, we'll face our deaths, or worse. Evolution, becuse if we are to return one day to the world that's our home, we'll have to create a new, incorrupted magic to sustain us. I know this may sound absurd, but we share our knowledge and our resources, who could say what is impossible? I urge you to suspend every use of magic you can and to gather, to find a way to leave Toril without letting the Red Death following us, to face our destiny in a new world. I hope this won't last much, but who could say for certain? I'll begin tonight a massive research through all the resources of the Encyclopaedia to find even the smallest reference to a place that could accept us, and possibly give us help on our mission. I wish you well, and I hope you'll join me on this adventure."
This letter is sent to the Metallic and Gem Dragons loyal to the Dauntless, to the Faeries he can locate, to the Sharn he has spoken to, to Queen Amlaruil in Evermeet, to the Enlightened Gnomes, to Arkanyl, to the Celestials summoned on Faerun and to all the good magical beings he knew over his the centuries. then he begins his research.
