At the local Borders book etc. store there is a growing underground of people who want to buy the set minust Indiana Jones #2 -- they are even willing to pay more for the privilege of never seeing Temple of Doom again...

Temple of Doom just did not offend me like it did everyone else I guess. No, I didn't love it near as much as the original, but it was simply made from a lower grade pulp than the original.

Add me to that list. ToD just wasn't up to the quality of the others, not even close. It's kinda typical of trilogies, IMHO: the first one is a big hit, the second one tries something new with a familiar icon, and it doesn't live up to its predecessor, and then the third one is more in-line with the first, backpedaling from the mistake of the previous movie, and people like it, just not as much as they did the original.

Unlike most people here it seems, I consider Last Crusade to be the best of the Indiana Jones movies. I actually saw Last Crusade twice in as many days when it was in the theaters.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is a close second, though.

Last Crusade is my favorite as well as a matter of fact among my friends it is considered the best but then we we were like well Prince of Thieves wasn't all bad Sean Connery was in it. :)

I am going to be adding this box set to my ever growing list of DVDs that I want.

I really liked all 3 and was surprised at all the venom spat at Temple of Doom. It is the weakest of the 3, but by no means a bad movie. That last 30+ minutes is some of the best action ever put to film. :)

Temple of Doom was nowhere near bad, IMHO. Though I did not enjoy it as much (because all of the marvelous supporting cast of the first movie had been ditched), I still thought it a fine heir to Indiana Jones' Legacy.

-------------
Indy: "Shorty! (speaks Mandarin Chinese)
Short Round: "Hang on lady. We go for ride."
Willie: "Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God! What is he nuts?"
Short Round: "He no nuts. He crazy."
-------------

Classic!

I just wish there was a way I could just buy Raiders (sorry, that's Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark --whatever) and not have to give Steven Spielberg MORE money for numbers 2 and 3.

But I guess they knew that if they released them separately they'd sell a million of 1, three-quarters of a million of 3 and half-a-dozen of 2, so this way they get to sell nine-tenths of a million of all three. It's smart, but it makes me cranky because I just want 1.

Sigh.

"Well, where DOESN'T it hurt!?"

"Here."

Yes yes yes, I agree. I will promptly put 2 and 3 on EBay. Maybe I can get $10 for both.
