The Aleasana Meta-Thread!

Um my Juni write-up needs work (I'll do a rewrite this arvo) but incorporates Bards, Barbarians (and other claseses) and changes the speak with burrowing animals to Speaks with Lizards.

Also Juni Barbarians are now Cannibals who fuel their rage with the Felsh and blood of their enemies

Any comments before I rewrite would be welcome...

Actually, it's Sartemon's (sp?) write-up. I don't think Juni should have cannibalism as part of their racial traits or something....they only eat their deceased elders or something, right? Even if that part's only what they tell others..... No need to make one way or the other canon though. Besides, I think the races need some more fleshing out in the main thread before we go cramping people's creativity by statting up the races now, when we've hardly established anything about them yet.

We had enough posts about Juni cannibalism. I propose that we leave this issue but some definite idea would be nice as it is part of their culture and could influence future contributions.
As Juni are a playabla race, my opinion is that we should offer a definite answer.

What, nobody picked up on the "sand magic" comment yet?

Speaking of classes... what would be the best favorite class for something like sand magic anyway? I'm guessing some variant of druid magic. Anyone got that new desert book from WotC?

I'm picking up the book for the skirmish tiles more than anything else, but I should have it in my hands sometime next week. :)

You know, I figure I'll do a quick listing of the Aleasani civil war factions, right now...

Cassant--a powerful city-state ruled by 'King' Ralin Valeris, Cassant is the leading faction in the war, but lacks the power to end it. Valeris seems willing to take whatever actions are necessary to win the throne.

Altania--headed by the High Enchantress Larisa, they seek to promote a magocratic government.

Cazar--Ruled by Lord Nithus, this faction is neutral, and seeks to negotiate an end to the war. However, Nithus is actually trying to prolong the war, in order to awaken the fallen angel Neroshimon. Hence this faction is shot through with as many evil double-dealers as well-meaning idealists.

Dromas--headed by a council of Druids, Dromas is opposed to Altania and Cassant. They consider arcane magic an evil, but also consider fey creatures sacred.

Bandesh-Thar--ruled by Dominus Majera Alsea, this faction is rabidly pro-Aleasani and persecutes most nonhumans, Northeners, and arcane spellcasters. Majera has the strongest claim of any for the throne, but her politics have made her unpalatable to most Aleasani. She's presently allying herself with the degenerate Asani.

Val-Alen--ruled by Duke Kail Illendus, Val-Alen is a large cosmpolitan city, with sacred significance to the Shay. Kail is trying to curry favor with them in his efforts to gain the throne, but is seen as politically minded, and something of an opportunist.

Well, there's six factions so far. There are also quite a few characters and city-states that haven't been placed, but we can work on that. I figure at least one more faction would be good, and two or three more might just be ideal...

Kallizar: A city state with access to mithril. Seems to have a strong army.

Karina: An elven city with advanced magical knowledge or old artifacts. Advanced knowledge in general as it has an university. the Shay ownership was established in a different post.

Well really, I created the Juni as cannibals because of the harsh conditions that they lived under. Meat is meat to them. It's fun to see my cannibalistic savage nomads turned into gnome nature worshipers! ;)

A faction from page 2....

Volg: A sprawling city-state in the northern highlands, victimized by Northerners. Ruled by margrave Olshek Travain. One-third of Volg is Dvergar citizens, allies of the humans there.
