The Banewarrens: Allies and Enemies

Malikar turns to Nicalon, inquiring Hey, recognize anybody? Let's see about getting this cell open then. I'm sure they have a key somewhere around here...

Malikar searches the unconscious guard's body and the room for some sort of key to open the cells.

Now that it's just the servents I should be able to get more information from my gather Information skill.
Fallon sends a *Missive* to Verakka.
*Well what do we do now?*

Verakka leans in asking 'Can you send a message like this to the others, they shoud be attempting their break-in soon <now?>.
Sletha will crawl inside 'Bolo's' bag.

Nicalon shakes his head, "I'm afraid the prisoners who shared my confinement are no longer here. Victims of torture, perhaps?"

Malikar grabs the ring of keys from the guards belt. One of the keys is an obvious match to the cell doors.

The dwarf keeps talking as the paladin approaches the door, "My name is Degar Ravenspell. I seem to have offended the house wizard somehow. Might have been when I refused to share a spell I recently created. Anyhow, some of the house thugs kidnapped me about a week ago."

"This other fellow has been here much longer, from the look of him. There's not much left of him. Can't even get him to talk to me."

Fallon learns a few interesting things about the Vladaam family. It seems that Lady Navanna has five or more "agents" who live in the outbuilding behind the house. Often they are out in the city attending to various activities, but there are always a few on the estate.

One servant lets slip that Aliaster Vladaam has six fingers on each hand and coal-black eyes. It's rumored that he has little ambition and uses his magic skills primarily to keep his sister off his back.

Fallon also hears that the servants and guards have been ordered to stay indoors tonight, although no one knows why. Some suspect the wizard is working a summoning ritual. Others think that the Lady is having a clandestine meeting with other nobles.

After unlocking and freeing the prisoners, Malikar extends his hand to Degar. A pleasure to meet you. My name's Malikar, this fellow was a former prisoner of House Vladaam like you. He's Nicalon, and this is Morden. Two more of our companions are down the hall: an elven diviner called Dyrnas, and a dwarven trapman named Krug. We'll get you out of here. Must've been some spell, eh?

Malikar smiles at his joke, and, with the pleasantries exchanged, kneels down next to the guard he rendered unconscious. Retrieving some spare rope, Malikar binds his hands and feet, and makes a crude gag by tearing the subdued guard's shirt into strips. He lightly touches his hand to the man's forehead, and then channels healing energy into him.

When the man wakes up, Malikar places his finger to his lips, signalling to the now conscious man that rash actions like screaming for help would not be appreciated. He then removes the gag, but is ready in case the guard decides to be foolish.

Look, I'm sorry about knocking you out and all. Anyway, you think you could tell me and my friends some information about this place?

Fallon will send Bilbo back out to the wizard's room. *Keep a facet open for what is happening there. Your legs are good for another 24 hours so there should be no problem with a lack of movement.*

He then Missives Verakka *I'm sending Bilbo to investigate*

While Malikar's attention is drawn elsewhere, Morden will keep a close eye on Degar and the unresponsive half-elf, keenly aware of the possibility of a trap or of any betrayal.

Bilbo scuttles off to the wizard's study.

-------------------------------------------------

The guard nods in response to Malikar's warning. He appears a bit confused when the paladin apologizes. "S'alright. I knew working for the Vladaams was a risk. Looks like I was right."

The guard shakes his head and continues, "What's there to say? This is the house dungeon. The room before this one is a training chamber. That area over there must be for questioning, but I've got nothing to do with that. The family usually send the guards upstairs while they're down here."

"I can tell you this fellow's name," the guard adds, pointing at the half-elf. "Thariad Rivelost. He's been here almost three months, poor bastard. I think he used to train animals."

Titus is keeping an open eye for trouble from the street while trying to listen into the grounds of the mansion. Before the others departed, he had Krug pick a spot for him to hide that would keep him out of sight from the view of any guards or visitors from outside of the mansions grounds.

Krug inspects the chest and box, checking for traps. If they're present, he disarms them. He'll then try to open them.

Apologies. Hard drive and modem problems...
