When he was only a pup in a litter, his father wolf was killed by a nearby Midwood ranger. The ranger later tracked down the worgs' den and killed the mother and all the other pups, taking the mother wolf's pelt for his cloak. By chance, the pup who would one day grow up to be the self-proclaimed Forest Prince had wandered off and fallen asleep behind a tree root in darkened corner of the den, and slept through the entire event, although he was able to track the ranger by scent and learn who had orphaned him.
Years went by, and he grew into a powerful and adult worg, the only one in the forest, thanks to the vigilance of the ranger and others. But thanks to the early lesson of his childhood, the Forest Prince was always able to stay several steps ahead of the rangers and other humans of Midwood. To avoid confrontation, he sticks to hunting wild game or the occasional lone traveler.
But he has not forgotten what was done to his family, nor forgiven. The ranger has settled down and married, and now has three young daughters and a lovely wife. And soon, very soon, the Forest Prince will take all three from the ranger.
As charming as he is wicked, he has introduced himself to the ranger's middle daughter, appearing to her as a friendly wise wolf who whispers comforting words to her from hiding when she is scared at night or when getting scolded. He would rather have the daughters follow him of their own free will, but if it does not seem to be working, he will eventually use his charm person spell.
His familiar, Black Eyes, mostly serves as a spy and scout for him, and has standing orders to stay out of combat, and to follow any who run from an encounter with the prince so that he can find and kill them later.
