The idea for the new concepts here I think are trying to address a real problem, not just trying to bring real life into D&D(wich never realy works anyway, like bringing real life into monopoly).
I think it is horrible that Dragons have to use hit and run tactics, and that by the time parties face most giants they are just their level orc or ogre(an eggshell which deals alot of damage)
A Dragon should be able to land and fight in melee if it so choses take on 4-6 men wich are ants to him and fly away with a snack in his belly. When it gets to the point and you see a monster with 120 or so hit points and know it wont last more than 2 rounds, without using environment and lots of tactics is just crazy. Higher level character dish out an overlypowerful amount of damage.
Think about it, you are playing your weekly game and the DM Throws a boulder at the party from a couple giants up on a cliff, are you as concerned when he says that or when he says you get sniped by a equally capable archer to your groups and a wizard unleashes a fireball at you, you look up and see another party of equal capacity on top of the cliff.
I think the others and I here just want to bring back some awe and power to the bigger than life creatures in D&D, the hit points don't do it, a d12 give me a break one point over per HD than the main fighter types and the same as one of them.
