The Brandybuck's letters home.

Argent Silvermage

First Post
Bolo and Tickleberry Brandybuck are cousins (strangely living in seperate games) This is the place where we will be posting in character letters to one another.

Background... Bolo is a Halfling Druid of Ehlonna from Wizadru's story hour "The savage sword of Meepo"

Tickleberry is a Halfling Rogue. She will post more about herself.

This a purely an exercise in sillyness. But Tic and I are family and family keeps in touch. :D

Hiya!

Hello everybody! My name is Tickleberry Brandybuck, the oldest daughter of Pota and Elanor Brandybuck in Talow Dale. I have one younger sister, Kippen, and an older brother, Peregrine (he outgrew his childhood nickname, Pippen. Both Kippen and Peregrine inherited old family names, I got named after an alcoholic berry. Wonder if that affected my lifestyle? Hmmm.

Anyway, I am currently trying to keep a bunch of knuckleheads alive and well in my wonderful dm's campaign. That story is in Tickleberry's continuing adventures or "Killer Kobolds from where?" in the story hour.
Oh, I am a chaotic good (ahem) scout. Hey, there are paladins in the party, they might take exception to my other job title.

Between a Rock and a sleeping God.

Tic, you would not believe this. I'm stranded of the Astral plane...attacked by goddess knows what and there is not a plant or animal in sight. I'm forced to work with my elemental spells and i'm just not happy about that.
But enough of me... Mam and Dad are doing well. they love living in the sacred grove, and Mam has won the High council over with your Mam's Tickleberry Tart recipie. I wish I had the time to watch the elves totaly trashed on the pies! It's so much fun to watch them try to be graceful and still walk into trees!
Well I've got to get back to work. This group never stops.
Send my love to all,
Bolo

Know whatcha mean

Have to admit, cous, your group has outdone mine this time. Our big quest is to find our way onto a cloud full of kobolds.
They had made tunnels near this town, and my group wanted me to sneak around down there to see what was what. Without darkvision, this idea wasn't going to work. I told them so in my own inimical fashion. I also told them that the source of kobolds was that cloud. Did they listen? Nooo, we have to get ambushed at the drop zone for the kobolds. At least we took out the wizard.
Unfortunately, I lost one of my charges in that fight. We're currently on our way to a big enough burg to get her back.

Oh, Kippen wants to know what lure works best for small dragons, any ideas? Peregrine wants to know if he should expect you back in time for the baby's birth? He married Beryl Sweetbrush from the next vale last spring, and has everyone counting the months to the baby's birth to see if they have a scandal or not to talk about. Billy Proudfoot has started a raffle over it, can you beat that?
Momma says if they liked the Tickleberry tarts so well, she's got another recipe or two Aunt Rose oughta try out. I'll send them when she actually sits down to write them down. You know most of her best recipes aren't written; she keeps them in her head.

I've always wondered if my name had any connection to those tarts, other than the obvious.

WE're going EPIC!

Hi Tickleberry,
I hope this finds you well. I'm at loose ends at the moment. we have returned to the Prime material plain along with the entire set of buildings that we were exploring in the Astral plain! Along with that we have the thanks of a Very powerful Djinn prince and the thanks of a GOD!
We were all given the "mark of fire" and it seems to have opened some sort of power within each of us. It's like there are no limits on how powerful I can become now!
Duringn the final battle I was turned to stone. I'm not happy about that but I think I'm finding that I have an affinity for Earth elemental magics. I may gain an earth elemental form when I am powerful enough.
so what's new with you?

Good Grief

Leave it to you, cous, to put me in the shade. While nothing that spectacular has ever happened to me, (well, how many people do you know that can boast being turned to stone,?) we've done a good deed or two. The town with the floating kobold problem is freed, and like I stated earlier, we're on our way to get a friend back.
Got an interesting letter from home. Remember when I saw you, I told you that gold-digger was still hankering around. Well, Momma told her what you said, and she had a fit right there. I'm told she'll be bedridden a couple of weeks, and out of our hair permanently. Sheesh, you would have thought that was the first time she heard you didn't like girls, at all. It didn't help Momma told her you didn't like her in particular.
Kippen caught her dragon.
The old hill hermit proclaimed it a "psuedodragon." It looks like a miniature red dragon with a stinger. Kippen thinks it likes her, it follows her everywhere. Momma don't know what to think, any suggestions?

Hey Tic!
I have an actual day or two to write. Glad to hear your Kobald rain problem has cleared up. (that yellow rain should have been a clue to your compatriots!). So Kippen actualy found the Pseudo-dragon! How wonderful for them both. the Little drake is by nature a good being so she is in no danger. But this means she probably has some mage potential. I'll send some money along with this so she can get the proper training. While the Pseudo will be her friend she is nowhere near powerful enough for the two to do a familiar bonding.
Well tell everyone that I send my love.. Just don't throw it in Lilly's face. poor child, she needs a good man... but don't we all?

Bolo

It's a Boy!

Well, it looks like the Vale will just have to look elsewhere for their scandal, little Bolo came into the world nine months to the day. I won the raffle, hee hee.
He is, of course, named after you. Hey, I'm a girl, and I just couldn't compete with your latest heroics. The money home for Kippen's mage schooling just finished it off.
Enclosed find an invitation to be a godparent, and two recipes sure to set the elves on their heads. Momma made me promise not to look, so I have no idea what they are. She sent this little snippet to Aunt Rose " If you think it'll make 'em drunker, go for it!" I don't think she's forgiven elves in general for that little incident six Beltanes ago.
Kippen has started taking on airs. She now must be addressed as "Kierenestrael." who in Brandobaris's name is she named for?! It purely twists the tongue all out of shape. Thank god I'm nimble.
It certainly doesn't help that she is DEFINITELY Mage gifted. She's already turned her teacher every color of the rainbow, twice. Momma says the other students are taking bets on what she does next. Someone is quite sure she's gonna knot his beard. Wish I could get in on that action. I could use a little extra cash about now. Hmm, how much does a raise dead, or resurrection cost, anyway?
More later, cous.
Take care,
Tickleberry

Who had the baby? YOU? and why do you need a resurection spell? (especialy when your favorite cousin can reincarnate the person. New body, new life, and young again. Sure... there is a small chance of turning into a badger... but it's worth the risk!)

Kisses, Bolo

Look at your Letters!

Cous, my feelings are pure hurt! You've not been reading your letters. My big brother Peregrine married Beryl Sweetbrush and it's their little boy. Lucky you now have a namesake and godchild all in one.
My companion, Mender the dwarf, died while killing a floating mage. We're going to the nearest big burg to bring her back. While dwarves and badgers seem to have a similar view on life, I don't think she'd like the full body beard.
Love and kisses (all the family said hi!)
Tickleberry
