The Captain's Caper! (Dunamin judging)

OOC: Alex doesn't need to make an Endurance check until the next extended rest that the group takes. For now, he just needed a plain saving throw to see if he is infected first. To save time, I'll roll it here. 1d20=16 So Alex isn't infected and won't need any endurance checks after all. Brudd is infected though, and loses one healing surge due to the Filth Fever. At the next extended rest, he will need to make an endurance check vs. the disease.

Girth shakes his head at Brudd's seeming blasphemy although there is just a hint of a smile there also.

"Friend Brudd, count not your chickens, as is said in my homeland, less the fox takes them to spite ye. While true it is that we a chest have found, we yet do not know what lies within. Perhaps open it we should?"

OOC: Hope everyone had a nice Holiday season!

After taking the small chest back with you to the Bloody Wake in the rowboat, you show it to Thorandin and he nods as you approach. "So, I assume you want to verify that the gems are actually there now? Set the chest down there and we'll all have a look now." After the chest is resting on the deck of the Bloody Wake, the dwarf pulls a key out from under his shirt and armor. Kneeling down, he inserts the key and turns it until the locks click free. Opening the lid, he shows you all a bed of many sparkling gems, glinting in the sunlight. After a silent moment, Thorandin closes the lid once more and turns the key until the tumblers lock into place once more. Pulling out the key, Thorandin replaces it under his shirt and armor as he steps back among his group of dwarven workers which he brought along. "There you have it. The gems are there and you can deliver them to Redblade so that I may have my sword. He has a copy of the key and will have no problem opening the chest himself. Can I be dropped off back near my worksite now?" Thorandin asks the group.

"Oh, I fully expect some sort of trick," Hrav says. "Either Redblade won't have the key, or will try to off us, or something. We'll just have to see what happens. I'm sure we'll fare better than that dragonborn..."
